The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Pauline Marion and the late Ed Marion, longtime public official for the City of Anaheim, and Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Plegel of Anaheim. She is a graduate of Fullerton Union High School and will graduate from Fullerton Junior College this June. In college she served as 1958 Blue and Gold princess, homecoming queen and flag twirler. Her fiance is also a graduate of Fullerton High and attended FJC after four years in the Navy. He is now employed by the La Habra Post Office and the Thrifty Drug in Buena Park.

FASHION SHOW PLANS—Meeting in the home of Mrs. Walter Thibodeau, members of Our Lady of the Rosary Institute 169 discuss plans for their benefit fashion show to be held in the Garden Room of Knott's Berry Farm May 2, at 12 noon. Fashions from the Farm's Marion and Toni Sport Shop will be modeled. Proceeds will go to the St. Philip Benizi Church building fund. The group will meet Thursday at 7:45 p.m. in the clubhouse to work on the new supply for the hospital's children. Main project of the evening will be making colorful hand puppets which have proved popular for bedfast children. Members who do not sew may wrap toys already collected. Mr. and Mrs. Boyer B. Jackson of 920 N. Hampton St., announce the engagement of their daughter, Dorothy Louise, to Walter O. De Silva, III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter O. De Silva, II, of Santa Ana. The bride-elect attended Tucson High School and Chaffey College in Ontario. She now attends the University of Santa Ana Beauty Culture.
Her fiance attended Mater Dei High School at Santa Ana and Santa Ana Junior College. He is an employee with the Western Electric Corporation.
June 6 at St. Pius V Church, Buena Park is the date and place of the wedding for the young couple.
Plans for the annual Fuchsia Flower Show, June 17-21, sponsored by the California National Fuchsia Society and to be held in conjunction with the annual Great Western Dairy Show at the Great Western Exhibit Center, Santa Ana Freeway at Atlantic Blvd., Los Angeles, are being made by fuchsia society branches in this area, namely Orange County and the Costa Mesa-Bay Cities unit.
Big event of the show will be the crowning of Miss Fuchsia Queen with selection to be made on May 3 at 2 p.m. when the 30 branches of the state organization gather at a picnic to be held at the Redondo Beach City Park, Redondo.
Other than the queen, two princesses will be named, with Miss Polly Campbell of Downey, 1958 Miss Fuchsia Queen, to officially release her crown to the new "ruler" at 8 p.m., June 17. On that evening the annual show will get under way with show winners to receive their trophies at the ceremonies.

TO CROWN QUEEN
Fuchsia Societies Plant Flower Show in Los Angeles
Individual exhibits, with entries open to the public as well as to society members, will include fuchsias, begonias, ferns, African violets, Gloxinias and bromeliads. Separate classifications will be provided for novices who have not won a ribbon or trophy in any previous show and for experienced amateurs.
Many of California's prominent fuchsia hybridizers will be on hand to exhibit their blossoms of seedlings to be introduced in 1960 as well as blossoms of their 1959
St. Jude's Guild Has Luncheon
Graduation exercises in the form of a delightful buffet luncheon and card party marked the transition of 25 St. Jude Hospital Guild members from provisional to active status.
The party was given by the retiring board of officers at Los Coyotes Country Club under the guidance of Mrs. C. R. Campbell, chairman of provisionals, an U Mrs. T. A. Henry, co-chairman. The 5 women have served during the past year under an apprentice status and have now completed the requirements in the hospital stations served by the Guild members and have been accepted into full active membership, according to Mrs. Angelo Ferraris, hospital volunteer coordinator.
This year's class has proved an exceptionally active one, according to Mrs. Ferraris. Out of the 25 members, ten have earned their American Hospital Association pins, which are presented to Guild members who complete 100 hours of hospital service during one year. One number, Mrs. Ner J. Kearney, gave more than 300 hours.
Those receiving their A.M.A. pins included Mesdames Kearney, George H. Armour, Frank Doyle, Edward Hansen, Ray Hildebrand, Clarence Iegters, Kenneth Main, Ralph Posey, E. P. Tagge, Frank Thayer, and Earl Wilson. Completing the roster of members are Medames Paul Burleigh, Harry Byerrum, Walter Caplinger, Joseph Caslin, Albert Frost, Louis Goodwin, Fred Kay, F. A. Nunlist, Opal Swearingen, Robert Vedder, Edward Wilson, J. W. Ryel, Paul H. Sherman, and Walter Watkins.

Picnic Host Unit
Gardena Valley Branch will be the host unit for the queen contest picnic at Redondo. The judges will be Vic Tanny of Vic Tanny's famed gymnasiums, Milt Svensk, photographer for the Redondo Beach Daily Breeze, and Dick Fitzgerald, manager of the Torrance Chamber of Commerce.
Margaret Jackson is the president of the Orange County branch, which includes Anaheim. She extends an invitation to all members and friends of the CNFS to attend the May 3 picnic.
Hours for the fuchsia show in June are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with admission free.
Garden displays by branches in Southern California, as far north as San Luis Obispo, will feature colorful landscaped gardens, outdoor living areas, unique ideas and sheltered areas.
"Ooth exhibits by other cooperating garden clubs will feature related shade plants for the show."

Introductions.
In addition to floral and plant displays there will be demonstrations of gardening procedures, soil mixtures, fertilizers and tools.
Many garden experts and TV and radio garden personalities will be at the show to give advice and answer questions.
The California National Fuchsia Society is a non-profit organization to stimulate interest in and the culture of fuchsias and other shade plants, and is probably the largest shade plant society of today.
BRIDE—Patricia Louise Smith became the bride of Thomas G. Fitzpatrick at Capilla de San Antonio Saturday in a double-ring ceremony.
Anaheim Girl Is Bride in Chapel Rites
Capilla de San Antonio was the pretty setting Saturday for the nuptial ceremony uniting Patricia Louise Smith of Anaheim and Thomas G. Fitzpatrick of San Diego. The Rev. John Vanderbeck performed the double ring rites.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Smith of 12012 Orangewood. Escorted by her father, she wore a full length gown of white lace with a finger tip veil and pearl crown.
Attending her were Miss Mary Linquist of Orange, maid of honor, wearing pale pink taffeta and chiffon, and the Misses Ruth Whiting of Buena Park and Linda Smith of Anaheim, wearing pale orchid taffeta and chiffon.
Bud Fehlman of Upland was bestman.
Miss Carol Sullivan of Anaheim attended the guest book at the reception which was held at the chapel.

Fourth Annual Grand Medal Ball Slated
Dedicated to the promotion of better ballroom dancing among all young people, 88 Southland parent-sponsored youth dance clubs among whose membership are many local young residents, will converge upon the Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach. Thursday, for their fourth annual Grand Medal Ball, The affair will begin at 7:30. The public is invited.
Presented by general directors Mr. and Mrs. Derrall W. Call, the ball will feature a program of exhibition dancing by club members, followed by general dancing for all. There will be the coronation of a king and a queen elected by the total eleven thousand members of all the clubs.
Climax of the evening will come with the presentation of trophies to 105 of the clubs’ top dancers.
The Orange County Deanery, Archdiocese Council of Catholic Women, will be held in the Old Mission School at San Juan Capistrano. Reservations are to be made by Friday with Mrs. William Forsey, 31345 El Horno, San Juan Capistrano, GY 3-1672. The meeting begins at 10 a.m. and the luncheon at 12 noon.
