Homeowners and Magnolia School Officials Discuss School Site
Further discussion is forthcoming on the objected proposed Magnolia elementary school site adjacent to Ventura Street after Magnolia School District officials met with property owners at the Brookhurst Junior High cafeteria, last night.
A petition with 107 signatures was sent to the Superintendent of Schools March 27, objecting to the proposed site location because of better locations in areas not already occupied by R-1 housing, and because the ingress is not suited through a residential district already restricted by one access to a primary artery.
Ken Neilson, superintendent for the Magnolia School District; Rex Merison, business manager; Jack Wood and Hymen Cohen, members of the board of trustees, attended the meeting last night to answer questions about the proposed site.
Al Kravitz was spokesman for the home-owners group which numbers 58 homes in the tract.
Neilson invited members of the group to attend the regular Board of Trustees meeting at 7:30 p.m., Monday, May 4, to discuss further any views.
Another discussion meeting is planned for May 28.
Neilson said that the Board of Trustees wishes to explore the Stanton Girl Struck By Auto, Hospitalized

Stanton Girl Struck By Auto, Hospitalized
A five-year-old Stanton girl was a patient at Garden Grove Hospital with a possible concussion this morning after she was struck by a car and thrown 14 feet at Stanton Ave. and Main St., last Saturday afternoon.
Sheila J. King, 10512 Sycamore St. was crossing Stanton Ave. with her sister when she was hit by a vehicle driven by Melvin Ole Gorder, a Marine stationed at Twenty Nine Palms.
Police reported that Gorder's car was traveling south on Stanton Ave. The road was wet, and other cars had stopped to let pedestrians cross. Gorder's vehicle struck the King girl in the crosswalk.
Gorder told officers "I didn't see the girls until I was right at the crosswalk. I saw one girl start running across. I applied my brakes, and cut the wheels to the left and tried to miss her."
Gorder was not cited.

Murder Trial Continues In Superior Courtroom
By Orange County News Service
The murder trial of Frieda Dickson, 42-year-old Garden Grove woman accused of slaying her husband, continued today before a jury in the court of Superior Judge Robert Gardner.
Expected to continue her testimony is the defendant, Mrs. Dickson, who last week described her husband's asserted affairs with other women, alleged cruelty, and use of drugs.
The woman is charged with killing her husband with a rifle as he lay in bed. The prosecution is contending that the woman picked up the loaded weapon with the intent of shooting the victim.
She claims she only wanted to frighten him into leaving, when the gun went off.
Mrs. Dickson reportedly confessed to the crime, but later said she blacked out during the period when the bullet was discharged.
