Ralphs Enters Record Field With Babbitt Ralphs Grocery Company, pioneer in many supermarket innovations, scores another "first" with introduction of "Ralphs Records," produced under their own label, for exclusive sale in Ralphs markets. "World Premiere" is the title of Ralphs first recording, and this, too, represents many "firsts," as it is the world premiere of Harry Babbitt in the dual role of singer and orchestra leader. It is also his first L. P. album, although four of his single records sold over a million copies. Mostly fox trots and ballads, this is the "quiet" tuneful music now coming back to popular demand, reminiscent of the songs Babbitt made popular as featured singer with Kay Kyser's band. It is one of the few albums with full family appeal, as it includes one rythmic rock and roll, one of two instrumentals in the album. "Istrument by instrument, this is the best band in town," says Babbitt, pointing out that the players are all top-notch musicians, staff members, or on call for major movie, radio, and television orchestras. "World Premiere" is also the world premiere for the composer, Mrs. Peggy Spotts of Houston, Texas, "housewife turned composer" who couldn't find enough "music to dream by while dancing," so she proceeded to write her own, and the lyrics too. The result is one of the most unusual achievements in the field of music, one composer writing enough tunes to make a full-size album.
