The first national tennis plionship matches were in the Newport, R.I., Casino Whittier Man Receives $6500 Fellowship Richard M. Thomas of 10550 E. Clota, Whittier, director of the Southern California Indian Program for the American Friends Service Committee, has been awarded a $6500 fellowship by the Fund for Adult Education. Thomas will use the fellowship at UCLA where he will work towards a doctorate in education in the field of liberal arts adults education. A 1941 graduate of Whittier College. Thomas has been active for four years in the liberal arts center for adults program of Whittier College, having served as a group leader in discussion groups in world politics, American foreign policy and Russian foreign policy. The fund for adult education is an independent organization established by the Ford Foundation in 1951 to improve and extend liberal education for adults. The fund recently awarded 21 individuals a total of $100,000 in fellowships. SUN YAT-SEN'S FILM BIOG HOLLYWOOD (UPI) — Producer Harrison Forman is preparing to film a biography of Sun Yat-sen, China's famed revolutionary leader. Bucknell Alum Plans Giving Program With a goal of personally visiting 3,000 of the 17,000 alumni of Bucknell University, the Bucknell Alumni Annual-Giving Program for 1969 opened in the Orange County area of Southern California. The visitation is part of the program designed to explain the service opportunities and needs of Bucknell University, now in its 114th year of existence. In the Orange County area, three agents have been named to work under the chairmanship of Robert S. Schroamer, Fullerton. They are David O. Fairley, Anaheim; Charles D. Baer, Santa Ana; John A. Younghusband, Santa Ana. The Bucknell Alumni Fund was inaugurated in 1948 and since then graduates and former students have received a series of information booklets and appeals by mail. Now a more thorough canvass by personal visit is being conducted in 50 of the largest alumni areas. During the last year, Bucknell alumni and former students contributed $50,000, the equivalent of the income on $1,000,000 of invested endowment, toward the current annual budget of the University. In addition, another $50,000 was contributed by alumni to the University in building and endowment funds. Begin by stroking eyeshadow along the upper lid. Choose a color to complement your costume, or use a shadow to bring out the color of your eyes. Blend it along the eve-lid, then upward at the outer corners. Next use a matching eyeliner. Blend this with the finger-tip, then blot with a cleansing tissue to avoid having the color rub off on the upper lid. You may wear black mascara. The harsh doe-eye-look has been passe' for some time. Use a medium brown penencil to even out your brows. Remember to avoid creating a downward line when applying any color to the face. This applies to the brows too—always end the brow line with an upward tilt, even for very arched brows. The desired effect from all makeup is a natural look: This is acquired by using the proper colors, and applying makeup with a sure hand. Apply enough, but not too much.
