HELMUT H. LUBKE ... new manager New Manager Named For Jewelry Store Russell V. Fergoda, executive vice-president of J. Herbert Hall Jewellers of Pasadena, Pomona, Anaheim and Santa Ana, announces the appointment of Helmut H. Lubke as manager of the store in Anaheim, located in the Broadway-Orange County Shopping Center. Born in Magdeburg, Germany in 1929, Lubke is the son of a jeweler and watchmaker there. He was educated in Germany and studied watchmaking in college. In 1950, after having been a prisoner of the Russian MVD, he fled to West Germany. Coming to the United States in 1955 as an immigrant, Lubke started working for J. Herbert Hall Jewellers in Pasadena as a watchmaker. He attended Pasadena City College to re-learn English, then USC for business education. Now he is a member of the American Gem Society and studying at the Geological Institute. He previously had been transferred from the Pasadena store to serve as assistant manager of the Pomona store under Manager George Curry. Part-Time College Enrollment Jumps SACRAMENTO (UPI) — A recent Department of Education report shows there were 81,030 regular and part-time students enrolled in the California state colleges midway during the 1958 fall term. This was an increase of 8,947 students, or 12 per cent more than the previous fall enrollment. Enrollments on the individual campuses ranged from 237 students at the Santa Rosa off-campus center operated by San Francisco State College to 12,933 students at San Jose State. Of the total enrollment, 52,874 or 65 per cent were regular students carrying more than six units of credit. Approximately 96 per cent of the regular students reside in California, two per cent in other states and 1.6 per cent in United States possessions and foreign countries.
