Part-Time College Enrollment Jumps
SACRAMENTO (UPI) — A recent Department of Education report shows there were 81,030 regular and part-time students enrolled in the California state colleges midway during the 1958 fall term.
This was an increase of 8,947 students, or 12 per cent more than the previous fall enrollment.
Enrollments on the individual campuses ranged from 237 students at the Santa Rosa off-campus center operated by San Francisco State College to 12,933 students at San Jose State.
Of the total enrollment, 52,874 or 65 per cent were regular students carrying more than six units of credit. Approximately 96 per cent of the regular students reside in California, two per cent in other states and 1.6 per cent in United States possessions and foreign countries.

Clinic Has Everything But Doctors, Says Star
HOLLYWOOD (UPI) — There wasn't a single doctor in the house when actress Patricia Owens stepped on a piece of metal and cut her foot recently while helping to dedicate a new tuberculosis center at Birmingham, Ala.
Miss Owens, on a personal appearance tour with the film "The Sound and the Fury," had to be taken to a clinic about five miles away to have the wound stitched.
