BIKE SAFETY ENTHUSIASTS — On their way to school, Jan, Cathy, and Ginny were caught leaving their home at 901 W. Alberta. Daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil C. Daoust, the girls ride several blocks each school day to St. Boniface School. All are looking forward to participating in the Bike Safety Program. Their school will take part as one of Anaheim's 26 elementary schools that will initiate the program during National Bicycle Safety Week, commencing April 20. It is estimated that 12,000 pupils, grades 3-6, will take part in the Anaheim Bicycle Safety Program. Sports Car Event Slated Sunday At Orangefair Shopping Center By Orange County News Service Sports and imported car drivers from all parts of Southern California will be on hand April 12 at the Orangefair Shopping Center, Fullerton, for the Orange County Sports Car Club's third annual event, the Corrida Dellos Carros Slalom. The cars will be broken into classes according to their engine displacement and trophies will be given in each class depending upon the number of entries. Members of the Orange County club will not compete in the open event, Hearle noted. The shopping center parking lot is located at Spadra Rd., and Orangethorpe Ave. Meanest Thief Takes Carrier Boy's Bike Police today are looking for the "meanest thief" after a Bulletin Carrier boy had his money-earning means of conveyance stolen while he was getting his papers ready for delivery Thursday. The bike was described as a black and white Schwinn Wasp, with a paper rack on the back. This lad is a newspaper carrier and desperately needs the bike for his route. Stookey said Orangethorpe was never "released" as a state highway, although the city council approved the state's request, under protest. The section between the Santa Ana Fwy. and Spadra Rd. is pending replacement as a state highway by the Riverskle Fwy. The state will install signals if the intersections meet minimum traffic warrants, Stookey said. He added that exhaustive tests by the city have shown the warrants have existed for three years. Bulletin—A-3 Bar Store Room Raided By Beer-Loving Burglar BUENA PARK — A local bar's storeroom was raided Friday night by a non-paying type customer who relieved the establishment of several cases of beer while the paying customer portion of the business was full of patrons, police said. Steve Lolpe, 917 Hanover St., Anaheim, owner of the Park Inn, 6436 South Manchester, reported to police that seven cases of beer, eight six packs of beer and three blank checks were taken from the liquor storeroom of the business, reports said. Entry was gained to the premises by punching a hole in the screen in order to break a window in the door through which the culprits entered and removed the merchandise, police reported.
