Gillman Pleased With Elroy's Sub
REDLANDS (UP)—Los Angeles Ram Coach Sid Gillman was pleased today over the way veteran Woodley Lewis was fitting into Elroy Hirsch's place as the "third end" in the Rams' passing attack.
In Wednesday's 40-minute scrimmage, Lewis performed at the flanker spot as though he had been playing that position instead of defensive halfback in recent seasons.
He caught the only three passes pitched his way by Bill Wade and Norm Van Brocklin for gains of 15, 12 and 14 yards.
Van Brocklin also tossed a 53-yard touchdown pass to Bob Boyd.
