Second Largest Class in New Citizens Represent Almost Every City in County at Swearing-In Rites
SANTA ANA (OCNS)—One hundred and eight-four Orange County residents today began their glorious adventure as naturalized United States citizens after swearing in ceremonies Wednesday afternoon.
Superior Court Judge Franklin G. West swore in the class, second largest in Orange County, history, at the Santa Ana Christian church.
Headed by a long list from Mexico the group included persons from Japan, Russia, France, Germany, Latvia, Iran, Canada, Portugal, England, Estonia, Italy, the Netherlands, Lithuania and Austria.
Exemplifying the determination on the part of the class to gain the coveted citizenship was Rajmuno Janes Struckels, 412½ Fernleaf, Corona del Mar, who changed his name to Raymond Janes Struckel.
The former Yugoslavia native was operated on only a few days before the class was to receive its oath. Struckels, pale and drawn, was up front Wednesday.
Judge West gave the oath of citizenship to these residents, most of whom wore smiles:
