Introduce Welcome
Wagon To Anaheim
Welcome Wagon, which embraces more than 4000 hostesses, who are making approximately one million calls annually on families in the United States, Hawaii and the Provinces of Canada, making contacts in more than 1400 cities, is coming to Anaheim and Orange County.
Miss Virginia Bliss of 1210 West Center St., will be installing hostesses throughout the County and will serve as Welcome Wagon Area supervisor. She recently completed a training course in preparation for this work.
Miss Bliss, who originally hailed from Grafton, N.D., the well-known city in the great northwest, This is the city identified by its excellent band each year at the New Year's Day parade, and the band that played at a big its big welcome to Southern California, held in Anaheim, is familiar with traveling and change of location, its of needing to become acquainted with the location and its people.
She launched her business educational training after high school days at Grafton with study at Interstate at Fargo, N.D. and later at the American Institute of Business at Des Moines, her major accounting. "I have only four months to go for my CPA and may obtain it later," said Miss Bliss. "At the present I am completely interested in Welcome Wagon."
Her parents make their home in Anaheim. She came here from Santa Barbara and later, Los Angeles this last winter. She is known as an avid chess player.

gon, which is now in its 26th year. Often referred to as a service which is "in the business of building friendships," Welcome Wagon's basic policy includes cooperation with churches of all faiths, with worthwhile civic and welfare groups; also participation in these activities which keep communities good places in which to live. It is significant that Welcome Wagon has been cited for its volunteer service and achievement in community and nation by such organizations as the American Red Cross, National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, American Heart Association, American Heritage Foundation, United States Treasury Department and many other such groups.
Its service is one not only of public relations but, more important, it meets a present-day need in the field of human relations.

Elks Charity Benefit Dance
Pageant Gets Audience Praise
Capacity audiences packed the Anaheim High school and the Fulerton High school auditoriums to share again a dance extravaganza rarely equalled, when the Richards Martin studio staged its 20th dance pageant for charity two nights this past week. More than 200 inspired children, presenting talent from the tiny pre-school age through the advanced student age appeared, the show definitely a pageant of scintillating color, beauty an dntricate and interesting routines depicting stories, poems, songs, and incidents in life.
There are always surprised on the program. This year special Spanish dance numbers were given by Rain Valente and his partner, Miss Elvia Corona. Their talent and precision dance routines, sparkling and vivid in interpretation with all the flavor of the Latin-Americans, brought heavy plaudits. These artists appeared recently with Liberace on TV. Rain studied with Mrs. Martin's mother his fame achieved, said he, largely because of those formative years of study.
Production, The Best
The audiences both nights, acclaimed the production the best with Lenoir Richards Martin remarking that its success is due to hard work on the part of the parents as well as students. She gave special praise to co-directors, Mary Lou Martin, Anne Avon and Mrs. Joan Miles, who was responsible for the sets, backdrops and costumes.
thousands of dollars for benefit of the unfortunate and needy. Sponsor in the past years has been the Elks club of Anaheim.
Elks Appreciation
Tom Yellfs, acting in behalf of his fellow Elks lodge members presented the head director, Mary Lou Martin with a gorgeous bouquet of American Beauty orses and expressed deep thanks tilting color, beauty and intricate ents for their part in its success.
Kenny Bouas is Birthday Guest
Fourth birthday honors went to Kenny Bouas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bouas, 163 Evelyn Dr., at Peter Pan Nursery school. Individual cakes were served from a musical cake plate and musical games were played.
Seated at the birthday table with Kenny were his brother, John Bouas; Becky Saville, Sandra Neiman, Tommy Neukom, Cloyd McAllister, Craig Long, Jimmy Neighbors, Stevie Calvy, Mary Knoll Benner, Joan Hays, Kay Tucker, Freddy Siewert, Bill McCabe, and Lance Godfrey.
