Women Equal Men in Doing, Says Rutgers Anthropology Prof
ST, LOUIS, Mo. (UP)—A Rutgers University professor said he believes "women are able to do everything a man can do," and sometimes better.
Dr. Ashley Montagu told the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs last night that women are better prepared, on the whole, for an economic role than men "largely because they see economics not as a reason for human contacts, but as man in the service of humen relations."
The anthropology professor urged all women to pursue their education so they can follow some "useful and profitable" career. He said, however, it must not be forgotten that "the most important of all professions is motherhood."
Dr. Lynn Townsend White Jr., president of Mills College, Calif., also recommended mixing careers and families. But he warned marriage lessens a woman's chances of higher authority in the business world.
Miss Marguerite Rewalt of Washington, DC and Miss Hazel Palmer-of Sedalia, Mo., were expected to be elected president and first vice president, respectively, of the convention today. They are unopposed.
