Los Angeles City School District Employes Get Pay Hike (Continued from page 1) were returned to the five day week. All non-certificated employees were also granted two extra holidays a year—the day after Thanksgiving and the day before Christmas. Salary schedules for both principals and for supervisors and consultants had two steps added bringing the schedule for principals from a minimum of $5900 to $7100. High before was $6600. Consultants and supervisors had their schedule boosted to a high of $6500 from a last years high of $6100. Consultants salary is to include use of their car in their work. Praising the work of Superintendent Cook and Assistant Superintendent Mel Gauer, trustees last night boosted Cook's salary to $10,.500 and Gauer's to $8,500. The salaries are to include travel expenses. Layish praise was given Cook and Gauer by trustees for their exceptional work in the Anaheim City School district. Clerk John Mary pointed out that there are 49 school districts in the state comparable to Anaheim's and of that 49, 35 exceed Anaheim's tax rate. Of those 13 who have a tax rate lower than Anaheim's, Mary said, most have special advantages—"such as Huntington Beach with its oil wells." Full credit for Anaheim's low tax the rate was given the two administrators by the board which termed them "outstanding" and praised their wonderful record. Board President Rex Coons expressed his appreciation to the administrators and to the other members of the board, Mrs. Carrie Lee Rogers, Arval Morris, Niels Boege and Mary, for their cooperation and help in the past and reminded them he would become a member Nab Teenagers After High-Speed Chase Two teen-age Anaheim boys were in custody of County Juvenile authorities after a high-speed chase by Anaheim police at 2:30 a.m. today which ended on the outskirts of Santa Ana. A charge of grand theft auto was made by police in booking the youths who are quoted as saying the boys removed the car from the Bob Cook Used Car Agency, 313 South Los Angeles St., shortly before the local police car began pursuit. Officers said they chased the heavy Bulck sedan at speeds between 80 and 85 miles per hour with red light and siren. The cag was finally stopped on the outskirts of Santa Ana. Officers found one youth, age 14, driving while his passenger was age 15. The older boy told officers the car belonged to his grandmother residing at an address in South-West Santa Ana. Police of that city called to the scene, were preparing to transport the boys to the Santa Ana address for verification when they allegedly admitted theft of the car from Anaheim. The Army Signal Corps Training Center at Camp Gordon, Ga., saved more than $500,000 in a single 12-month period. Most of the saving came from eliminating paid overtime for civilian employees at the post. ANAHEIM'S FINEST DEPARTMENT STORE Rain Bogs Down Guatemalan Rebels (Continued from page 1) tailed, the Guatemalan army could thank Communist Czechoslovakia for help. The officials said Guatemalan Communists had distributed 1,900 tons of arms imported from Czechoslovakia to peasants and pro-Red labor unionists. The Honduran government, meanwhile, complained to the United Nations Security Council in New York that Guatemalan planes attacked the town of San Pedro de Copan, eight miles inside Honduras. The complaint said six Honduran air force planes followed the intruders to the Guatemala-Honduras border. Guatemala Denies Charge Guatemala angrily rejected the charges as "unfounded allegations." Earlier reports said planes had dropped a bomb on the towns of Copan and Santa Rose de Copan. The Guatemalan government said it had used extreme care in respecting the dividing border line between Guatemala and Honduras. Guatemala previously accused both Honduras and Nicaragua of aiding the rebels, and said any plane which crossed the frontier of Honduras probably was a rebel aircraft off its course. Honduras and Nicaragua both denied that the rebels were operative. Special Purchase!
