County Junior Federation Gives News Of All-Day Session at Seal Beach
Mrs. Marion Spencer of Fullerton, advisor of the Orange County Federation of Woman's Clubs, junior membership, was honored guest at the all day conference held in Seal Beach this week. Registration and coffee hour started at 9:30 a.m. with Seal Beach Juniors as hostesses. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Gall Barnett, president in the Community Methodist church. The Rev. Clyde Ruckman giving the invocation.
Mrs. Marx Dressler president of the Seal Beach Junior Club welcomed the group. Others honored with Mrs. Spencer were introduced. They were Mrs. W. E. Reed, Orange County Senior Federation president, Mrs. Virgil Parker, Seal Beach Senior president, Carolyn Cunningham, state drama chairman, Mrs. W. L. Harbert, past Orange County Senior president, and founder of the Santa Ana Junior club.
President's workshops were held throughout the morning. Club ethics was held for the incoming presidents with Mrs. Grover Hermes guest speaker. Mrs. Richard Dishman conducted the parliamentary law workshop, with Mrs. Gail Barnett giving help in the club procedure workshop. Mrs. Clifford Holt was in charge of the press workshop, with Mrs. Phyllis Jackson on the Newpot and Balboa Press as guest speaker. Mrs. Don Hayton was in charge of the County Ways and Means meeting, with all the county representatives present.
During the afternoon the press award was presented to the Anaheim BPW Club Selects Year's Slogan
"Live by the Emblem, Sign Victorious Achievement" is the facet of "Adventures in Achievement", the National Federation Business and Professional Women's Clubs slogan for the year chosen by the emblem committee of the Anaheim club as their slogan.
Wednesday evening Verna Hollins, emblem chairman and committee assisted by Dorothy Doetsch, membership chirman and her committee presented a "Pageant of the Emblem" at the dinner meeting of the club he at the Chungking Cafe. He led Sharp and Stasie Armstrong presented the Torch; Verna Hopkinson and Evah Drennon, the Wanda Jessie Messersmith and Dorothy Doetsch, the Snip of Commerce Buelah Hineman and Emma Lawrence, the Scroll; and Oriana Roeland Florence Tullas, Niki th Winged Victory.
The president Ethel Caverley presided over the meeting when Vern Fry, Addie Jones and Mary Jane Mullins were introduced to guests.
The next regular meeting of the club will be held in the Optimus Clubhouse on Wednesday evening June 23. It was also announced that the next county council meeting will be held din Fullerton on June 24.
Anaheim Youth Leader Heads S.C. Students

County Ways and Means Chairman Mrs. Hayton announced at this time that the project for next year will be a variety show and dance held in the Huntington Beach Pavilion on Oct. 15, with all clubs participating. There will be acts from each club and a side walk cafe. It was also announced that Orange County Juniors will again hostess the Southern District convention to be held at the Huntington Hotel on April 29 and 30 next year.
Program for the afternoon included Siegfried Ringwald, Long Beach who gave a talk of his life in Germany while a teacher there. James Jay and Laura Killingsworth, Long Beach, gave a comedy skit, and Corrinene and Kenneth Beecher, Newport Beach, gave numbers and dances from their travels in Yugoslavia.
Story of Switzerland, Spain Told by Film At Department Meet
The Anaheim Home Department annual spring event at the Everett Koonts barn on West Broadway was attended by 53 members and their guests with Mrs. Jesse Anderson chairman of the department.
It was called husband and guest night with Harold Wahlberg presenting his colored slides on Spain, Switzerland and Germany. Wahlberg recently returned from more than six months in Europe and the British Isles. His pictures were the second in series shown to Department members. The pictures dealt with rural and farming sections as well as the major interests for travelers.

Awarded Scholarship
AUHS Student Receives Coveted Scholarship To Stanford-U
John Brooks, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Brooks of 9342 Hillview Rd., West Anaheim, has been awarded a coveted Sloan Scholarship to Stanford University.
The Sloan Scholarships are presented by the Alfred J. Sloan Foundation, Inc., New York City and were formerly used for technological institutions. The Foundation recently approved the branching out into liberal arts field with Stanford and Dartmouth named for this program.
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of excellent scholastic record and other general qualifications. It is mainly an honorary recognition instead of a financial grant and incurs a $200 aid on a four-year attendance plan.
Brooks graduates from Anaheim High School this June and has attended AUHS for his entire four years of secondary education. He was named as the valedictorian of his class, his address to be given at the commencement next Thursday at the city park Greek theater. His service record at AUHS has included lead roles in junior and senior plays, president of his junior class, bearer of Scholarship Gold Seal, and the medal as highest point man in service at AUHS for male student, awarded Wednesday night at the Service Point banquet.
At Magnolia elementary school, young Brooks was class president and a straight "A" student, outstanding in scholarship and citizenship, according to Mattie Lou Maxwell principal.
His future curriculum plans are in the field of law.
DATE '46 CLASS REUNION
Anaheim High School class of 1946 will have its reunion June 21 at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Jewel Hollingworth at 200 South Anaheim Youth Leader Heads S.C. Students
Dave Deshler, minister of you at the White Temple Methodist church of Anaheim, has been elected president of the student body of the University of Southern California graduate School of Religion, having served as treasurer for that group last year. He is the son of Rev. and Mrs. Byron Desler of the Spurgeon Memorial Methodist church of Santa Anita and came to the Anaheim post la July, during which time his your program has more than doubled size.
Deshler is leaving Anaheim new Friday to conduct a workcamp party of young people from Whi Temple to the Highland Boy Community Center at Bingham Canyon in Utah for a two-week work camp among the open-pit copper mines there. The group will conduct a vacation church school for children all day, and then present a recreation program for teenagers in the evening. Enroute thru will visit Boulder Dam, Salt Lake and Bryce and Zion Nation Parris. Youths going with Deshler include: Bob Puckett, Kristerst, Barbara Galloway, and Mary Dougnerty.
Plans Seminar
Two graduate seminars in history will be given during the six weeks summer session at Occidental College beginning June 21, according to Dr. Charles F. Lindley, director of the session.
The first, "American History conducted by Dr. Andrew F. Roll will include supervised individual research, with emphasis on the trans - Mississippi West.
The second, "Historiography taught by Dr. John E. Rodes, will concern the reliability of the printed word and other material that can be used by the historian who writes.
Each seminar will grant two units of credit.

Scenes, told the story in Spain as compared to Southern California, the profuse growth in the orange orchards and other vegetation very pronounced. Food machinery for packing houses in Spain is supplied by the same country that serves packing houses in this area, it was pointed out.
Refreshment and a social hour concluded the evening with this final activity taking the place the traditional outing. Next meeting of the Department will be in the fall time.

Child Observation and Parent Education Class Honors Instructor, Leaders at Final Meeting
Enjoying luncheon at the La Palma Youth Center Thursday noon were members of the Anaheim Child Observation class. The pre-school playground and parent education study group has met weekly this past year as a part of the Anaheim High School Adult Education program.
Special honors of the day went to Alma Bert Green of Lido Isle, instructor for the group, and Mrs. Lowen Casey, chairman. They were each presented with interesting group gifts from the class.Mrs.
Howard was honored for her excellent work as secretary for the past year.
Heading the group next year will be Mrs. Arthur Mays and Mrs. C. Nelson with Mrs. Robert Gaerte to serve as secretary.

NAMED OFFICERS—Bernard W. Jordan Jr., 17; and Barbara Jordan
15, children of Mr. and Mrs. Barney Jordan, 841 North Clementine
St., have been named to key posts in the student body of Mater
Dei high school in Santa Ana. Miss Jordan, a freshman this year,
was named treasurer of the student body for next year in a runoff election while young Jordan was named to head the organization.
Barbara and Bernard are graduates of St. Boniface Catholic Grade
school. Barbara is active in GAA at Mater Dei, her main sport,
basketball. She is also a member of the Anaheim Jo-Etts( majorettes). Both she and her brother belong to the Solidarity. Bernard,
a senior next year at Mater Dei, is the first president of the student body selected from Anaheim. He is a three letter man in
football and a member of "Conogram". He had the lead role in
the musical, "Hulda of Holland" this year and is one of the student to receive the nation-wide Auxillium Latinum Competetion award,
one of 23,000 students in U.S.
