COMMUNITY SERVICE TRAINING—Senior Girl. Scouts of troops 15 and 47, Anaheim, have been de- COMMUNITY SERVICE TRAINING—Senior Girl Scouts of troops 15 and 47, Anaheim, have been devoting one Saturday night per month to Santa Ana Filter Center, where they are shown serving under the direction of S/Sgt. Toby Lyon. Now that the center is about to close, they are asking for suggestions for a new phase of community service. Doing their bit at the center are (l. to r., upper) Judy Reese and Virlee Elliott. Around the table are (l. to r.) Rita Flynn, Nancy Dutzi, Linda Blakely and (forground) Charlene Allen. Girl Scouts Train at Santa Ana Filter Center The closing of Santa Ana Filter Center brings to an end one phase of Girl Scout training in Anaheim. But the girls are looking for new fields of service and are asking suggestions. Troop 47. led by Mrs. J. F. Dutzl, and Troop 15. led by Mrs. Roberta McFarland, are all high school age and naturally interested in the dates that fill up the Saturday nights of teenagers. But they have given one Saturday every month to work at the Filter Center. Now that work will soon conclude. Already engaged in assisting leaders with the program for younger girls, the senior troop members plan to do side work in camping this summer. By autumn they hope their leaders will have received offers to use the girls in some other kind of community service. Two types of work intrigue the girls, but there are obstacles. They'd like to do hospital aide work, but there is much red tape connected with training the girls, according to their leaders. They like to do library aide work, too. Young readers in Anaheim Public Library may soon be assisted in picking out reading material by members of the troops. Other ideas should be relayed to the Girl Scout House in Anaheim, where the telephone number is Key 5-4889. Suggestions should be along the line of community service, as the Girl Scout program here is financed by Anaheim Community Chest, Mrs. Dutzl, pointed out.
