"Charlemagne, the Legend and the Man", by Harold Lamb, shows the author's tireless enthusiasm for research enabling him to create a full-length portrait of the great leader who brought the entire Western World under absolute control in the eighth century. "From the Danube to the Yalu" by General Mark Clark is the personal story of his seven years of almost constant struggle with the Communists on the battlefield and at the conference table. General Clark speaks for all Americans who deplores what he calls "the cream puff and feather duster approach to communism". The broad implication of his story will deeply concern everyone. "Minutes of the Last Meeting", by Gene Fowler, is a biography of Adakichi Hartmann, poet, self-claimed genius, artful rogue, and moocher. The author's efforts to complete the biography were aided by the good (sometimes) graces of John Barrymore, W. C. Fields, and John Decker. "The Manner is Ordinary", by John La Parge, is an inspiring autobiography of a far from ordinary life of a dedicated man in whose Order-the Society of Jesus—the manner is ordinary. "Venezuela Through Its History", by William and Amy Marsland, is a complete and up-to-date history of that fabulous country. "Syngman Rhee", by Robert T. Oliver, portrays the man behind the myth. The author has known Syngman Rhee personally for many years and has worked with him in Korea and in this country; so for the first time we get a full story of the great Korean's life and leadership.
