The Trojan mentor still isn't sure exactly how good a ball club he has and probably won't get a much better line on them this week although the leaky SC pass defense is due to have a busy afternoon. Johnny Cherberg's charges bounced back last week with a 28-0 win over an Oregon State team that has yet to score a point. The previous Saturday the Huskies were humiliated 50-0 by a good but not great Michigan team. Despite this unhappy beginning Cherberg has the makings of a petty tough outfit. In George Black has one of the coast's best receivers and Doug McClery and Jim Warsinske are just a step behind. And an adequate replacement for departed Don Heinrich is Sandy Lederman, the former prep great from Santa Monica High School. Southpaw Sandy hit on 15 of 25 passes against Oregon State but the Huskies made the big yardage on the ground with 304 yards. Teran, who took a cure for his admitted drug addiction before making a short-lived ring comeback, was hospitalized Tuesday night after his wife told detectives he had locked himself in the bathroom of their East Los Angeles home and swallowed a bottle of sleeping pills.
