The players, who may be out of Saturday's game with Southern California, are fullback Arnie Bergh, halfback Corky Bridges and sophomore end Terry Strom. PULLMAN (UP)—The Washington State College Cougars polished their passing attack and sharpened their single wing offensive plays in a hard practice yesterday. Coach Al Kircher also stressed defense against University of Oregon's T-formation plays. EUGENE (UP)—Oregon Coach WLen Casanova sharpened his team's serial attack yesterday in preparation for the Webfoot's game against Washington State at Pullman Saturday. CORVALLIS (UP)—Ron Siegrist was moved to first string quarterback position and left end Andy Skief was moved to tackle today on the Oregon State football team. Coach Kip Taylor hoped the moves would strengthen the Oregon defense against Stanford in their game at Portland Saturday. St. Catherine "A's", Cees Divide Contests St. Catherine's "A's" took their season-opener yesterday from California Men's School 13-7, scoring both in the second and third periods. Saint TD's were the result of two well-timed plays—the first coming on an end-around by Alex Chironis off the short punt, good for 45 yards—the second on a 50-yard pass play from Bob Powell to Jim Whelan with Ray Howe putting on the key block. CMS got their lone touchdown in the fourth quarter on an end-run. Chironis was the Saints spark-plug, turning in a sparkling performance on offense, and presenting a stonewall display on defense. Coach Joe Rodriguez only comment. "The team was both sloppy and good as is typical of most first games." Coach Herb Hamilton's Cees ran into a buzz-saw, going down to a powerful Ramsey team, 20-0, who scored all three touchdowns in the first half. The Saints rallied their defenses in the second half and held the fast-stepping Ramseyites scoreless. Herb stated, "My boys seemed to be afflicted with a bad case of over-confidence off their last victory and offensive plays just wouldn't click, however, we steamed-up... CORVALLIS (UP)—Ron Siegrist was moved to first string quarterback position and left end Andy Sklef was moved to tackle today on the Oregon State football team. Coach Klp Taylor hoped the moves would strengthen the Oregon defense against Stanford in their game at Portland Saturday. BERKELEY (UP)—A 35 man University of California squad leaves today for Philadelphia and Saturday's game with University of Pennsylvania. Absent from the traveling squad was first string end Jim Baxter, who suffered a knee injury in the Ohio State game. STANFORD (UP)—The Stanford Indians concentrated on passing today in preparation for Saturday's game against Oregon State. The Cardinals leave tomorrow for Portland. STOCKTON (UP)—Left guards Ben Cahill and Neven Hulsey will be absent from the College of the Pacific lineup in Saturday's game with the University of Hawaii. Coach Jack Myers said Cahill received a leg injury in last week's game with Tulsa and Hulsey was injured the week before in the game with Washington State. SAN JOSE (UP) — Coach Bob Bronzan put his San Jose State squad through a blocking, passing and kicking sess' on yesterday in preparation for Saturday night's game with Arizona State (Tempe). LOS ANGELES (UP) — Southern California Coach Jess Hill breathed easier today because tailback Aramis Dandoy was back, apparently fully recovered from an attack of flu. Dandoy returned to practice yesterday and showed he was in top form by sparkling both afoot and in the air. LOS ANGELES (UP) — The UCLA Bruins scheduled only a light workout today in preparation for their visit with Wisconsin tomorrow night. They added polish to both the offense and defense in yesterday's final game workout, with halfback Paul Cameron's aerial attack looking good. Results Are the Proof of Newspaper Circulation. Anaheim supporters are fervently hoping the Blue and Gold are not going to be taken for a ride instead, because from advance reports filtering in from Whittier newspapers, and from Van Hoore-beke's scout and assistant coach Bill Hicks, the Dons are loaded and lying in the bushes. The Rancheros already have two victories nailed on the barn with wins over Morningside of Inglewood, 7-6, and Bellflower, 19-6. The Dons boast one of the heaviest lines in Prep football. They average 197 pounds between the tackles and are said to have two of the fastest 150-pound ends in High school football. In both games this season, El Rancho's defense has been nigh on to impregnable, according to detailed reports in the Whittier press. Each of the opponents have been forced into fumble situations, Bellflower mussing up five plays caused by the hard charging El Rancho line. Don quarterback Jim Lindblad has proved a bull's-eye passer, with six completions in 11 tries, two of which went for TD's. It is reported that he has "stone-wall protection," and all day" to get his passes away. Van's injured-list continues to arrow—Tom Berg has a bad knee and Bob Lambeth pulled a back muscle. Neither will see action. Dependable Gabe Vasquez' leg injury has been given medical clearance and Gabe is being welcomed back with open arms. Henry Herrera, Frank Doretti, and Ron Browne have been taking special therapy for sore backs, and are in doubtful status. Mickey Gouyd went into the Citrus game with a bum knee and a weak ankle, but no one on the Cougar team felt that the "Mick" was ready for a wheel chair, so Van is hoping for the little scat-back to be off and running. Still to be sorely missed at defensive end, is Ray Van De Warker, Ray is chomping at the bit while a small bone heals in his left hand. Directions to El Rancho Field Colonists football fans planning to attend the Anaheim-El Rancho game tomorrow night will find the following directions helpful. The campus is located on Passons Blvd. in the Pico-Rivera area and can be reached via Whittier Blvd. or via Manchester to Lakewood Blvd., right on Lakewood to Washington, right on Washington to first signal, and left two blocks to the field. Even the Dodgers were consoled with a losers' check that almost equalled the previous record for a winner. The office of Baseball Commissioner Ford Frick revealed that the Yankees split up a pot of $290,363.46, while the Dodgers sliced up $193,575.65. The total players pool, including the amount going to the second, third, and fourth place teams in each league, was a record $691,341.61. The Yankees voted 29 full shares plus 16 fractional shares. A full share was worth a record $8,280.68. The Dodgers also voted 29 full shares, worth in this case $6,178.42 each, plus six smaller shares. Each team remembered players who were with the team part of the season but were gone by series time and the Dodgers even voted a flat $500 to pitcher Don Newcombe, their big star who is in the Army. Yankees Bobby Brown and Tom Morgan, also in service, did not receive anything from the Yankees.
