Whittier Light Opera Opens This Sunday Featuring colorful Spanish music, food, dancing and decorations the Whittier Civic Light Opera's gay "Flesta Grande" will be held from 4 to 12 p.m., Sunday Oct. 4 at the Patriotic Hall, $35 South Greenleaf. Three lively floor shows, under the direction of Teta Smart, will highlight the evening's festivities. Especially designed for children, the first show will feature entertainers from the younger set, while adult fare will be offered on the two later shows. Among the many attractions "Flesta Grande" will offer is an elaborately decorated pinata. When the pinata is cracked open by a blindfolded stickwielding child, all youngsters present will gather up the many presents and candy which will shower onto the floor. Light Opera members, wearing Spanish costumes, will serve in the adult and children games, white elephant-rummage sale and photography booths. A Spanish plate of tacos and beans will be served, as will homemade pies, cakes and candies. Coffee, Mexican chocolate, milk and soft drinks will keep thirsty celebrants happy. BULLETIN - 7 Hindu Lectures At FUHS and FJC An audio-visual extension course of the University of California at Los Angeles presented by Lal Chand Mehra, noted lecturer on India and the Orient, began Saturday at Fullerton Union High School and Junior College, according to Stanley Warburton, superintendent. The class meets every other Saturday from 9:30 to 12:30 and from 1:30 to 3:30 in Room 317 of the Business Education building on the junior college campus. Three units of college credit may be gained by successful completion of the course; cost is $30. New registrations will be accepted at the class meeting on Oct. 3, the deadline. Now a citizen of the United States, Lal Chand Mehra, comes from a high caste family of Amritsar, India. He received his early education in the schools and colleges of the University of Punjab, India. In America he received his A. B. and M. A. degrees from the University of California. Lal Chand Mehra has distinguished himself as a lecturer on India and the Orient, and also has made a mark as a character actor and technical adviser in the fields of radio and motion pictures. Kirkwood of Pasadena to build a 21-unit motel and swimming pool on an acre site at Corona Highlands, at edge of Corona del Mar, were disclosed today.
