Stock Market Moves Downward
NEW YORK (UP) — Stocks moved downward fractions to around a point today in slow dealings.
All sections of the list took part in the sell off. A few individual issues however, managed to counter the trend with good gains. They met demand on favorable corporate developments.
Market news worked both ways today. On the adverse side was the announcement by Secretary of Defense Charles E. Wilson that defense spending in the next fiscal year will be slashed by two billion dollars. This news was offset by the announcement of another treasury cut in interest it will pay on issue of savings notes.
Oil shares as a group showed widest declines. A few high priced issues here showed losses of more than a point each.
Steel shares fared better than other sections. They only slipped fractionally. With the exception of Lee Rubber, most tire issues moved lower. Utilities dipped only a few cents as measured by the averages. Railroads lost major fractions.

Travelers Reminded of Local Trailer Laws
A reminder was issued today by the Anaheim Police department concerning the parking of house and camp trailers on city streets and in driveways in violation of city law.
Chief of Police Mark A. Stephenson, quoting section 5100.22 of the Municipal Code, declared no house or camp trailer can be parked on a city street between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m daily.
The code also says the trailers may only be placed on the rear of city lots or under cover; and may not be parked infront yards or in driveways.
Chief Stephenson pointed out the requirement which prohibits living in house trailers in the city unless in a public trailer camp ground which has censed by the city.
