LOVEJOY As general secretary of the national child labor committee Owen R. Lovejoy, a native of Michigan, is playing an important role in the campaign now being waged to obtain ratification by states the proposed constitutional amendment on child labor. Ratification of 28 states necessary. The amendment could before 28 state legislatures this year. California is the most cont state to ratify the proposed amendment and Lovejoy pleads leading part in the efforts of workers for the measure in the state. Lovejoy was born in Janet town, Mich., in 1846. He received his A.B. and LL.D. from Blion College, Michigan. In 1904-07 he was assistant secretary of the National Child Law committee and since that time has been general secretary of organization. During all these years he been its guiding spirit and work has been eternal investment and legislation. His rep upon conditions under which dren live and work have powerful instruments in more sluggish legislatures in behalf of children.
