Real Estate and Rentals SUFFRAGE MEANS JAP LABOR PARTY TONYO, Jan. 7—Passage of the universal manhood suffrage bill by the Japanese diet, which is confidently expected during the present session, will mean the birth of a labor party in Japan, according to close observers. It is predicted that within a decade Japan will have a labor government. It is certain that the next elections will see a labor party in the field, actively endeavoring to elect candidates to the diet. A nucleus for a strong labor party already exists in an organization known as the Seiji Kenkukai. This organization was formed about six months ago and already has a membership of 3000. It has drafted a platform and is laying plans for the formation of the first labor party in the orient. Until universal manhood suffrage is accomplished in Japan, a labor party is impossible because so large a number of the working classes do not enjoy the franchise. A bill to give every man in Japan who is 25 years old and over the right to vote, is now before the diet and undoubtedly will be passed before the present session adjourn. With the fight of suffrage granted to all classes, leaders of the movement to found a labor party are looking forward to a great growth of strength. The right to vote, it is declared, will give the unproportioned class a chance to express their dissatisfaction with the existing regime will afford an outlet for the growing feeling of economic unrest which is noticeable throughout the country. NO MURDER WITH GAS EXECUTIONS LOS ANGELES, Jan. 1—Eleven months ago today a fear-raced man was dragged across the sunbaked stones of the yard at Nevada state prison, tied to a chain in an air-tight room and gassed to death, while officials state witnesses gazed on the first lethal execution in world history. Since that murky morning there hasn't been a murder in Nevada, Gov. J. C. Serugham told International News Service today. "Since that man—Gen Jon, a Chinese hired killer from San Francisco, was put to death by gas, there hasn't been a murder punishable by death," meaning a murder other than committed in the heat of fronay, in the whole state of Nevada," said Gov. Serugham. "But more than that—a huge Chinese narcotic ring has been eliminated from the state." "To be hanged or shot to death is not no bad but a Chinese fears a gas death because he thinks according to his religion; it will kill him from going to heaven. Hence Chinese in Nevada are obeying every law right along with the white folks." Nevada's legislature meets ten days, the chief executive said, but he predicted no effort would be made to repeal the lethal gas execution law. "The only bad thing about the law is that it is expensive to operate under it," the governor said. "We used hydrocarbons gas, the most deadly scientists could find in the Gee Jon execution and railways refuse to transport this gas. It was necessary to bring it to Nevada from Los Angeles by auto. In addition it was very costly." NEW TODAY LOST—Oblong white gold writer on white gold band, D. 16, Reward. Leave at Plaid Dealer Office. With the fight of suffrage granted to all classes, leaders of the movement to found a labor party, are looking forward to a great growth of strength. The right to vote, it is declared, will give the unproportioned class a chance to express their dissatisfaction with the existing regime will afford an outlet for the growing feeling of economic unrest which is noticeable throughout the country. One of the leaders in the movement is Prof. Oyama, Oyama of Wakefield University, well known in Japan as a student of politics and sociology. "The next general election," Prof. Oyama said, "will witness the first candidates representing Japan's labor party in an effort to gain seats in the house of representatives. The general tendency of affairs in this country, social, economic and political, indicates that the age of capitalism is on the decline and that the rise of a labor party in politics is inevitable." BELIEVE TWO LOST IN LIQUOR SHIP SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 7 — That two men perished when their allowed rum smuggling boat capsized in Haiti-Moon bay, about 20 miles south of the Golden Gate during the severe storm that raked along the coast Christina day, was the report being investigated today by Field Prohibition Director W. R. Paget, who already has undertaken that the wreckage of a small vessel), the BD-799 was washed ashore in the vicinity of the reported capsizing. The drowned men were said in the reports to have been Alec Washman and a man known only as 'Ollie' Washman was registered as the owner. Kahn, American financier, sizes up the general economic and political situation in Europe. "England, which during and since the war has shown nothing less than economic hegemony in her steadfast adherence to sound and tested principles, has thereby established a asset of calculable value, the returns from which are bound to be large and lasting. The advance in the value of the pound sterling to within a traction of 12 par value is an expression of the world's unquestioning confidence in Great Britain's economic ways, self-decease and character, and of its estimate of what the future has in. FRANCE. France industrious, prosperous with abundant employment for her people, and with a favorable balance of trade, has enacted the necessary measures of taxation to establish the equilibrium of her budget, and is preparing to address herself to the permanent solution of such other questions within the province of governmental financial policy as may be said to constitute the one remaining signal problem before her. ITALY, Italy, which throut out the difficulties of the post-war period has resolutely followed the dictates of a wise and correct fiscal policy and imposed upon her great sacrifice in pursuance of that policy, has made extraordinary progress under the clear-sighted and far-visioned guidance of Mussolil, and is steadily forging ahead.
