SOCIAL AND FRATERNAL CHI OMEGAS AND FRIENDS FROLIC AT BLAKELY'S The final course of a progressive party was enjoyed at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Walter Blakely, West Broadway, when eight Chi Omega sorority girls and their escorts as guests of Miss Harriet Blakely motored here to pass the remainder of the evening in dancing. Dear Mrs. Thompson; About two years ago I was married and after living with my husband a few months was divorced. A year ago the 18th of November I was married again. Then my first husband caused me some trouble about my divorce and the law said that my fast husband and I had to part until January while I went thru another divorce case. When my second husband and I parted he told me I was single and to enjoy myself until the time came for us to be married again. A few nights ago I went to a dance with a couple of girl friends and he did not like it. I was not with a fellow as I expect to marry him again. The next morning he came to the house and would not speak to me. He left without saying good-bye or when he would be back. I thought he would leave town and so I have looked all over town for him and have failed to find him. Would you advise me to wait for him and to marry him when he does come back? Would you advise me to marry any one so jealous? I love the man and I know he loves me. ROKEN HEARTED WOMAN. The man you married last will always have to face the fact that you gave up your first husband for him, and therefore jealousy on his part will not be entirely without warrant. If he comes back, and he probably will since he loves you, be tactful and kind so that his jealous fits will not be provoked and intensified. Under the circumstances it was hardly wise to attend the dance even in the company of girls. LOVE AT THIRTEEN. Dear Mrs. Thompson: I am a girl of thirteen. For two years I have cared very much for a boy four years my senior. He does back. The next day I found it in my desk. I didn't want it any more so I gave it to him and I think he will keep it for good now. Did I do right? I love this young man dearly and would like to win back his friendship. SOFT-HEARTED SUE. Your opportunity to win back the young man came when he returned the picture to you. At that time it was not necessary to show joy to think he gave it back, but you might have told him you would keep it because you preferred friends to enemies. Now, however you might just as well recognize the fact that your friendship is a thing of the past and to forget him as quickly as possible. INDIFFERENCE NEEDED Dear Mrs. Thompson: I have known a lot of boys, but none of them have been true to me. I have always treated them nicely and so have my parents. They are invited to dinners, house parties and a lot of meals. They always come, but they do not stay as my friend. I am true to them and they know it. I dress well, am considered good-looking, jolly and very decent, but not real distant. I work but I don't have to. I have not the best of health and am meloncholy. I am nervous and quick but kind at heart. Men only like me a night or two and then it is all over. They say I am a good girl with a sweet disposition, but that is all. Many people have told me I was too good natured. But I was born that way. Please tell me some way out of my trouble. BILLIE DALE. You make things too easy for the young men who take an interest in you. A little more indifference on your part and the part of your parens would be better than to invite your friends to dinner, meals, house Midwinter Picnic As a pleasurable farewell Alexander Pathoyios, Hugh and A.E. He does not like girls older than I. He does not know that I care so much for him. At first I played together like children, but things have changed. I care for him more than as a friend now. I am nearly sure that he cares for me because when he is around me he acts like it. Can you advise me to find out if he cares for me or not? Also tell me what to do to let him know that I care for him. WAITING. You will have to judge how much the young man cares for you by his actions. Both you and he are too young to talk of love and marriage. Do not try to make him tell you that he cares, and by no means confess your love for him. It is enough to let him know you value him as a friend. Dear Mrs. Thompson: I am a girl seventeen years of age and have been going with a boy one year my senior. About a month ago we had a quarrel and I thought I would give him the privilege of never coming back, and so I returned his letters. Now I can sorry I did so and he also acts differently. Is it my place to make up? If so, should I write or speak to him? Do not make up with an apology. Simply speak as if nothing had happened when you meet, and if he is ready to be friendly again he will respond to you. After a few friendly meetings you will doubtless find yourself on your former footing. LOSEN BOY FRIEND Dear Mrs. Thompson: I am a girl eighteen years of age. I am going with a boy the same age. We have been good friends until about two weeks ago when he asked us if he would have nothing to do with me. He gave me a picture nearly a year ago and the other day I decided to give it. You make things too easy for the young men who take an interest in you. A little more indifference on your part and the part of your parens would be better than to invite your friends to dinner, meals, house parties, etc. Let the young men ask permission to come and never urge the matter yourself. Your opportunities are not over and in the future you will be able to profit from past mistakes. Also remember it is better to be too distant than too free. FULLERTON BRIDGE E. A. Rousseau, of West Broadway, celebrated his "dozenth" birthday everyday, with a company of relaves as dinner guests. The meal was served at 4 p.m. and topped off with a gorgeous cake carrying the required number of candies, and inscribed with the initial of the nickname which his family only claims the night to use. As the young man was so recently presented with an array of Christmas gifts, it occurred to his guests that silver was the better birthday gift, so he received a purse filled with silver coins to add to his savings account. His guests were his grandmother, Mrs. R. E. Rousseau; Mr. and Mr. C. W. Kunze and daughter, Margaret; Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Dowell and the Misses Ethel and Allen Rousseau, all of Los Anles, who, with his parents and his sister, Catherine, made an even dozen happy celebrators Many at Federation Two long tables and another but a little bit shorter was surrounded by women of the W. Maybe monoxide gas did it. Sixteen deaths have been caused in Los Angeles by gas poisoning in the last few weeks. Some two years ago an Anaheimer was poisoned to death by the gas to or from his heater, after he had lain down to sleep with all the windows and doors closed. J. C. Hayden, local manager of the Southern Counties Gas Co., was asked how about it this morning. Here, in substance, is his view: Most monoxide gas poisoning is caused by water-heaters, burning in a room which is shut up and without ventilation. The copper coil is responsible. Every gas burner, stove, heater or what not, should have an air mixer, properly adjusted, and the room should be kept ventilated. A pan of water on a stove or heater not only furnishes moisture by steam to the air, but prevents the too rapid consumption of the oxygen in the air by the stove. The fumes should be carried to the exterior by pipe, the same as smoke is from a coal or wood stove. Many deaths and much harm are caused, not by monoxide gas, but by the gas which has escaped before being burned. Defective pipes or connections are to blame. Some advice circulated in Los Angeles includes the following: Keep stove clean and free from dirt. Don't leave gas burning at night or when nobody is present. Keep at least one window open three or four inches at the top and bottom, regardless of weather conditions. Ventilators of heaters should be connected with the out-of-doors air. All gas burning stoves, heaters, etc., should be inspect regularly to make sure that they are not elogged or defective. The Southern County Gas Co. makes these adjustments free of charge. Regular W.R.C. Day The local W. R. C. will meet in regular session at 2 p.m. tomorrow and every member is urged to be out. Starting the new year with a full attendance is just the nicest thing the officers can ask, and hope to have a unanimous response. Bizarre Model's Done in Velvet What the Neurocalometer Is —What It Does The Neurocalometer is a very delicate, sensitive instrument which when placed upon the spine: Verifies the proper places for adjustments. It measures the specific degree of vertebral pressure upon nerves. It measures the specific degree of interference to transmission of mental impulses as a result of that vertebral pressure. It proves the exact intervertebral foramina that contains bone pressure upon the nerves. Which the X-ray cannot do. It proves when that pressure has been released upon nerves at a specific place. It proves how much pressure was released, if any. It verifies the differences between cord pressure or spinal nerves pressure cases. It establishes which cases we can take and which we should leave alone. It proves by an established record which you can see, thereby eliminating all guesswork on diagnoses. It establishes, from day to day and week to week, whether you are getting well or not. It removes all doubt as to what we are doing for you. You get well in a much shorter time under the Neurocalometer Health service. FULLERTON BRIEFSE E. A. Schulz and family of South Gate Gardens visited Mr. Schulz's mother in Fullerton yesterday.
