BULLISH FACTORS CONTROL MARKET
NEW YORK, Dec. 16—Bullish factors predominated in the stock market today. Forward price movements were resumed or inaugurated in practically every department of the market and spectacular jumps of from 3 to 10 points were not infrequent. A spurt in the market in the first hour was followed by a period of profit-taking in which prices of many of the speculative leaders declined from Monday's high levels. Castiron Pipe and Worthington Pump, the leaders in yesterday's closing flareup, jumped into the front and surpassed their best previous price records. Universal Pipe and Radiator common and pfd stocks attracted attention by their strength and activity, the common, which recently moved up from 17 to $4, making a further advance to 38%; Colorado Fuel, Savage Arms, Davison Chemical and a score of well known stocks featured a heavy buying movement in which prices were advanced from one to three points.
The railroad stocks as a whole were not conspicuous thrung the spectacular gain of 20 points in Central Railroad of New Jersey and the steady rally of Reading, Lohigh Valley, Great Northern pfd served to focus attention on the rails. Wabash pfd stock was in good demand, following announcement that Missouri, Kansas and Texas pfd stock had been placed on a five per cent dividend basis. Wabash is expected to be the next to join the dividend class. American Woolen and American Sugar, two of the best known industrial stocks, responded to favorable developments in their re-

WELLINGTON TALKS TO KIWANIS CLUB
Inter-club relations and the meaning and value of luncheon clubs were discussed interestingly today by Major M. B. Wellington, lieutenant governor of Kiwanis and former president of the Santa Ana Kiwanis club before local Kiwanians.
Luncheon clubs started after the war, when the spirit of co-operation was abroad, said the speaker. Men of like minds who thot differently and of like ambitions who were working in a different way to attain them got together.
Illustrating the value of education, Major Wellington said that out of 14 university men in a company to which 400 men belonged at one time or another 13 became officers, while of the others only two had become officers and they had had previous military training.
During Wellington's speech William T. Wallop presided. President Young earlier had spoken in behalf of getting the Southern Branch of the U. of C. here and Wellington said the Santa Ana Kiwanis had voted to back Fullerton in the project.
Next Tuesday the Champion Boy Scout fire-builder of the county will be invited to demonstrate. All of the members next meeting are expected to bring prizes to cost not more than 25 cents each. The prizes will be pooled and each man will draw.

Mr. and Mrs. Castator, who run the Elks Club dining room, were invited in and personally thanked for their excellent meal on Ladies Night last week.
