Hinkley, shown above, arranged for their wedding at Billings, Mont., recently Miss Moy believed that she was of Chinese extraction. She had been reared by Dr. Moy Hing, Chinese physician, and his white wife. Just before the wedding Mrs. Moy revealed to the girl that she was but a foster child of the doctor's and that her real mother was a wealthy Toronto, Kan., merchant's wife. HANGS FOR MURDER OF TWO CONVICTS WALLA WALLA, Wash., Dec. 12.—With little sign of emotion, Thomas Walton, 40, slayer of S. P. Burri and George MacDonald fellow prisoners at Walla state penitentiary, Oct. 7, 1923, was hanged on the gallows near the scene of his crime today. The trap was sprung at 5:40 a.m. and Walton was pronounced dead a few minutes later by the prison physician. His only pre-death statement was a request that the death warrant be not read. Walton struck down Burt with a long knife while they marched from religious services at the prison here. It came as the criminalization of a feud which developed after their escape from San Quentin prison where both were serving life terms for murder. Walton also fatally stabbed George MacDonald, another convict, before he was subdued. NEXT MONDAY LAST DAY TO PAY TAXES Dec. 15 next Monday, is the last day before payment of income taxes becomes delinquent. Rex B. Goodcell, Collector of Internal Revenue, warns the public. Those who haven't received bills should communicate with Goodcell's office in Los Angeles. SPIRITUALIST MEETINGS Rev. Dr. A. H. Engelhardt of Erie, Pa., and Providence, R. I., well known lecturer and Divine Healer, late of Germany is on a healing and lecture tour through different states of the U.S.A. to expound Christian Spiritualism and is to lecture in Anaheim Sunday, Dec. 14 and Dec. 21 under auspices of the First Spiritualist Ass'n of Anaheim at K. P. hall DENY INCREASED GUN ELEVATION TOKYO, Dec. 12.—Emphatic denial was made here today by both the foreign office and the navy department that Japan has increased the gun elevation of her battleships. The foreign office declared that the government has prepared a statement on the subject of gun elevation for transmission to both the United States and Great Britain but that this statement is beingemporarily held up. The foreign office added that Japan will not start elevation of her guns before an exchange of views on the matter has been made with other naval powers. Japan will live up to the terms of the Washington disarmament conference and will complete the scrapping of surplus warship tonage before next Feb. 17, according to officials at the navy department. It was also learned here today at the navy department that the United States was the only power which did not agree to Japan's request to save the battleship Mikasa from being junked. The Mikasa was wanted as a monument to commemorate Japan's great naval victory over the Russians at Tushima. Japanese naval officials are keenly interested in reports from America that the United States is building a dirigible at Seattle for a trans-Pacific flight. When the east wind blows, rheumatic toes will ache and swell like sixty. at 7:30 p.m. and will also conduct a special Divine Healing service at 3:30 p.m. G. O. PAYNE G. O. PAYNE Cash Grocery 138 E.
