INHERITS ESTATE OF MAN HE SENT TO FIRING SQUAD It has just become known that Kevin O'Higgins (above) is the chief beneficiary in the will of Rory O'Connor (below), whose death warrant he signed. Long bosom pals, they remained friends even after O'Higgins became home minister in the Irish Free State cabinet, and O'Connor a rebel leader. When O'Connor was captured, he was sentenced to death, and O'Higgins felt himself compelled to send to the firing squad the best friend he had in the world. METAL CLOTH IS MUCH USED FOR FORMAL CLOTHES Metal cloths are high in favor for formal frocks and wraps this season. Causey took brides in a double wedding at Lynn, Mass., the women they led to the altar were mother and daughter. The mother became Mrs. Causey and the daughter Mrs. Zeimer. Johns of Oregon, candidate of the Socialist-Labor party. However, he is seeking to enlist as large a vote as possible under his party's banner. A test of strength is on in England between Sir Henry McCardie (above) of the English High Court, and Lord Olivier (below) secretary of state for India. The latter, one of the strongest members of the cabinet, is expected to be summoned before Judge McCardie, "strong man of the British bench," for gross contempt of court in criticizing the judge for his vision in the farmed OD Establishes Institute to Insure U.S. Adequate Food Supply In 2024 Insuring an adequate food supply to the United States a century hence, when its population probably will be doubled, is the work assigned to the Thompson Institute for Plant Research, in New York, by its founder, William Böyee Thompson (right), New York financier and philanthropist. The institute, a view of which is shown above, has just begun its work, with Dr. William Crockes (left) as director.
