PRICE REDUCTION ON DODGE SURPRISE
In view of the upward trend in automobile prices, considerable surprise was occasioned by Dodge Brothers' recent announcement of a reduction in prices of their special type cars.
Dodge Brothers were able to do the unexpected, according to the factory announcement, on account of the increased volume of their purchases of special equipment for the special type cars.
Dodge Brothers' special types consist of the standard cars equipped with accessories which produce the utmost in comfort and convenience and appearance of the car. Among these are steel disc wheels, five balloon type tires, nickel-trimmed radiator, nickel-plated bumpers, automatic windshield wiper, rear view mirror, scuff plates, cowl lights and motorometer with lock. A special body stripe is also provided.
Manufacturing and buying these accessories in quantity, Dodge Brothers are naturally able to install them at prices considerably below what the owner would have to pay at retail. The public was quick to sense this and the demand for the special types grew steadily from the moment they were made available. Their convenience and appearance has elicited the greatest admiration everywhere and those who know the volume that has been attained can readily understand how Dodge Brothers were able to make a reduction when others were announcing advances.
Four Dodge Brothers' cars are affected by the reduction—the special touring car, special roadster, special "A" sedan, and special four-passenger coupe. The "B" sedan and the business coupe have also been added to the line of special types.
As the reduction was made possible by economies effected in the purchase of equipment used exclusively on the special type cars.
UTAH TO INDIANA IN 2 DAYS'
News of an unusual country run in an Essex six-city—a trip that took the driver to Utah to Indiana in 48 hours—just been received by Jas. L. H. Hudson-Essex distributor, has succeeded H. R. Grove jn Anaheim territory.
In some respects, according Dunn this run excelled even of the famous transcontinental dash of the Essex four-seven years ago in that it was unplanned for and was the achievement single driver.
"Driving one of the new loon tire standard Essex coach said Dunn," a man in Ogden Utah, who wished to see his mester in Perryville, Ind., started on a remarkable achievement nerve and skill.
"In 48 hours, 15 minutes of total driving he covered 10 miles of all kinds of roads no relief in sight. He was using an Essex coach which had only 600 miles and which had solitely nothing whatever out but the regular equipment. Time he made shows that his sex averaged more than 35 m an hour.
"His trip covered roads in U Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana. A lot of things were badly cut up and choked, cruelly hard on a car driver going fast. Yet the difficulty encountered was a puncture. The driver L. L. Hah has written a warm letter of gratification to the Hudson-Essex distributing concern in the mountain territory.
"We are receiving many complaints from Essex six owners here in the city. The old Essex four was a famous performer, the new six has all the stamina and reliability of performers plus a greater smoothness comfort so they tell us.
"If the Essex coach were only six cylinder closed car at the price of an open car, it would be a markable bargain."
Clean Carburetor Every 2,000 Miles
Give your carburetor a bath once in a while if it misses, coughs or grunts, says R. V. Jensen, distributor of Rayfield and Zenith carburetors.
If a carburetor is choked with dirt it can't operate well. Dust collects easily when the air is caturated with it. Some of the dust gets into the motor and some collects with the oil, causing additional friction between cylinder walls and pistons and increasing hard carbon deposits.
The carburetor should be cleaned every 2,000 miles, says Jensen.

The Good Friend of Its Owners
Tens of thousands of American families look upon their good Maxwell cars with a feeling akin to positive gratitude.

For the good Maxwell has enabled them to regard the motor car as something more than merely a means of transportation.
If you examine into the basic reason for such performance, and for Maxwell's economical, care-free service, you discover that both the new transmission and new rear axle are strong and rugged enough for a truck; that the simple device of a platform spring under the front end of the motor, combined with the balancing of reciprocating parts to the fraction of an ounce, practically eliminates any sense of vibration; that in proportion to weight it is actually stronger than cars costing two, three or even four times as much.
