NORTHSIDE FOLK AGANIST ANNEXING?
The people in the territory which Fullerton seeks to annex, including a piece extending to say quarter of a mile south of Orange-thorpe avenue, won't give a majority for an annexation at the special election next month.
Those who have been thinking over the action of city council this week in raising effective Oct. 1, the water tax to residents outside the city who use Fullerton water, from a minimum of $1.50 for the first 1,000 gallons to $5 came to this conclusion today. They cannot conceive of Fullerton's taking any such action, which naturally would prejudice her chances of obtaining the territory, on any other hypothesis. The rate for water after the first 1000 gallons will be 20 cents per 1000 gallons instead of 10 cents now.
People in the city pay $1 for the first 1000 gallons and 10c per 1000 for each 1000 gallons thereafter.
City Engineer W. C. Record today explained the council's action by saying that Fullerton has $600,000 tied up in her water plant, on which people inside the city have to pay interest, while those outside do not. The burden is altogether too heavy to carry.
CHARGES WIFE WITH LARCENY
SANTA ANA, Sept. 26 — A warrant was issued here today on complaint of Dr. P. A. Sparks, Los Angeles dentist, formerly of Fullerton, Calif., for the arrest of his wife accused by him of 'disappearing' with $30,000 in cash and securities. Grand larceny is charged in the warrant.
Mrs. Sparks, beautiful 23-year-old daughter of P. C. Krause, presides over the conference expels Pastor (Continued From Page One) ways sick after he died. I guess it was her conscience. She'd come to church and she'd get so sick she'd have to go home.
"When mother was taken sick, Elsie came to see her once. She stroked mother's arm and held her hand. She put her arms around me and told me not to cry; that mother might get well."
"Yes," Marie interpellates, "and when I got fatal she took me out on the back porch and brought me to. I'd like to have her here now. What business did she have mixing up with a married man? It's a woman's business to stop such things."
Mildred continues,
"Daddy never gave us any idea he liked Mrs. Sweetin. After mother died, daddy said he never wanted to preach again and we sort of planned o coming to Tamarron for a spell. He wanted to get his circuit changed and he said that maybe next year he'd feel like preaching again."
"Daddy was good to us," the older daughter, with black hair drawn smooth over a forehead like her father's with perfect mouth and fine, sensitive nostrils quivering takes up the tale of mourning.
"At times when we wanted to go on a party and another wouldn't let us, he'd say, 'Annie, let them go.' We're only young once,' but it was always mother who took care of us."
"Dad was like a brother to Robert. The day he signed his confession was Robert's birthday and it almost killed him. Tomorrow is my birthday. What a holiday for us."
Then the inherent love for the father, which nothing the world may think or say, can quite efface breaks thru to the surface.
"Of course we do want to send daddy," Marie says impulsively, and her sister nods assent. "He's getting all the blame. No one is feeling sorry for him. We don't..."

Then she inherent love for the father, which nothing the world may think or say, can quite efface breaks thru to the surface.
"Of course we do want to eat daddy," Marie jama impulsively, and her sister nods assent. "How getting all the blame. No one is feeling sorry for him. We don't want him to hang. We don't feel that he ought to be cast out because he killed mother."
And once the los of reserve has been broken, the younger girl rushes on with questions.
"Have you seen daddy?" she asks.
"How does he look?"
"Are his clothes clean? Can we go down and see him?"
To the future, the Hight children so far have had but little opportunity to look. Mildred, a sophomore in high school, and Robert, an eighth grade student, plan to return to school.
"Everybody's good to me." Mildred said. "I don't think they'll throw it up to me. Bob and I are going to live with Mario here and go to school. I think."
The Sweetin family is to be disrupted.
"We're going to be separated," Byford informed the questioner.
"Uncle Joe Williams, my mother's half-brother in Pickneyville, is taking Stanton. I'm going to my father's friend, Arthur Brown, who lives on a farm in Spring Garden-so. I reckon Harry Lee will stay at Ina."
COULDN'T ESCAPE CLUTCHES OF LAW
The law may move slowly, but it gets there—at least that was the sad experience of Jack Ballard, who was arrested last December in Fullerton on the charge of possession of liquor, and made arrangements with Judge French to show up at later date to answer the charge and then failed to keep the appointment. A bench warrant was issued for him in January, but he successfully dodged the police until yesterday when he was picked up in Los Angeles, and brot to Fullerton last night. He was in the Fullerton jail today awaiting a hearing.
