FORBES ORDERED TO STAND TRIAL
CHICAGO, Sept. 19.—Denurers to the bimbery indictments against Col. Chas. R. Forbes, former head of the U. S. Veterans' Bureau and John W. Thompson, millionaire St. Louis contractor, were dismissed in federal court here today and the defendants ordered to stand trial.
The date for the trial will be set at a hearing Oct. 14.

LA HABRA
LA HABRA, Sept. 19.—(SpL) In celebration of September 16—Mexican Independence Day—when she gained her independence from Spain, the people who live at La Habra Mexican camp held a two-day fiesta. The fiesta started Monday evening with patriot readings and songs, given on the stage which had been decorated with American and Mexican flags, and a life-size figure of Hidalgo, the Washington of Mexico, and a lady pinning the crown of victory on his head, which were made by the camp artist, Francisco Español, out of wax. Members of the La Habra C. of C. and their wives and Miss Drusilla Mackey, Americanization teacher in the Fallon high school, were special guests. Tuesday was one of much merrymaking. Lunch was served at noon, with dancing, which concluded the evening.
Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Looms, Mrs. J. H. Dawden, Miss Dorothy Rankins, Mrs. Rita Slagman and daughter June, and Mernlee Carpenter motored to Orange-co park Sunday and spent the day. A steak bake was enjoyed at noon.
Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Douglass entertained Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Adam of Lompog Sunday and Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Adam were down to attend the Shriners' ceremony held at Orange-co park. On Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas, with their house guests, motored to Long Beach and spent the day.In the evening they were guests at a theater party given by Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Johnson, former residents of La Habra, but now residing in Los Angeles.

OWNERS PROTEST GRAB OF BEACH
A large attendance was present at a protest meeting of citizens and property owners which held at the Palasades Tavern Corona Del Mar. People from an erg section of Orange county were present besides citizens from Badena, Los Angeles and Pomona to voice their protest against 14 streets which are put thoroughfares to one of the churches of Orange county.
The Sparr interests, a weak corporation has proposed to city trustees of Newport Beaufort that they abandon these streets and deed the same to Sparr, giving him complete control of section of beach he desires thus legally closing it forever the public. Also he denies city council to grant permission to him to take (say) 60 from the 110 feet width of Ocean boulevard, making that street feet wide which will allow building sites for his Palasdes ocean front.
In return he proposes to give the city (tour) 4 rights of fronting on another place beach, which is a rocky and dangerous strip and unfit for use.
The citizen have formed a section association and have engaged H. C. Head of Santa Amanda their council. It is believed owing to the flood of public water the city trustees will heal before permitting one of the most stretches of public beach into the bands of a wee private corporation. Plans under way to vigorously prosecute the proposed action and

NERS PROTEST GRAB OF BEACH
large attendance was present protest meeting of citizens property owners which was at the Palasades Tavern at Del Mar. People from eviction of Orange county were that besides citizens from Panama, Los Angeles and Pomona; those their protest against closed streets which are public shutters to one of the choleccees of Orange county.
Sparr interests, a wealthy corporation has proposed to the trustees of Newport Beach they abandon these streets because the same to Sparr, thus him complete control of the area of beach he desires and illegally closing it forever to public. Also he desires the council to grant permission to take (pay) 60 feet of the 110 feet width of Oceanward, making that street 50 wide which will allow him sites for his Palasade front.
Return he proposes to give to city (tour) 4 rights of war on another piece of which is a rocky and danish strip and unfit for public citizens have formed a pro-association and have sent H.C. Head of Santa Ana as council. It is believed that to the flood of public opinion city trustees will healtate permitting one of the firs stretches of public beach to upstate the bands of a wealthy corporation.
