Real Estate and Rentals Orange to Stage Auto Celebration Latest model autos of all the popular makes will be seen in the parade at the "Old Days and New Days" celebration to be staged at Orange on Friday, Oct. 2. This unique celebration, which carries with it the idea to the developments along various lines, most certainly will serve to impress the thousands of onlookers with the advance in the automobile. This, for the reason that the various dealers will be asked to endeavor to secure some of the older models for contrast with the latest designs. Following the parade a large section of the Plaza in the center of the business square and in which the entire celebration will be held will be devoted to an auto show open to all dealers at a nominal cost per car entered. Agencies interested should confer with the Orange Chamber of Commerce or with any member of the committee, namely, C. A. Sisson of Sisson's Garage, Curt E. Henderson of the Orange Studebaker Agency, or Bert Gridley of the Chevrolet agency. Never Hope of Dry Battery’s Success The dry storage battery never was and never will be! Star Sales Boom In the Northwest OAKLAND, Calif., Sept. 15.—Tremendous growth in sales of Star cars was announced here by Norman DeVaux, president of the Star Motor Company of California, after checking over the registrations of cars in Oregon during the month of July. Star cars, the figures show, led all low-priced cars with three-speed transmission equipment in eight counties, tied for first place in five counties, and led all makes of motor cars in registration in one Oregon county. The figures reveal also that Star, with a total registration of 162 cars in Multnomah county, the largest in Oregon, was a close second to its next competitor. The figure of 162 cars tops the combined effort of several of the largest California county sales records, it is stated, and almost leads the combined totals of San Francisco, Los Angeles and Alameda Counties of this state. The recapitulation shows Star leading in Columbia, Coos, Douglas, Lane, Lincoln, Polk, Sherman and Wasco counties. In Lincoln county, it topped all makes of cars. Star tied for highest gear-shift car honors in the counties of Gilliam, Grant, Hood River, Morrow and Union. DeVaux states, in making the announcement, that the figures also show the condition of business in the northwest generally and that the strength of the Star organization is growing rapidly. Good business all over the Pacific Coast is reported at the same time. San Francisco, Los Angeles WEST COAST WEST COAST, Sept. 15. (S.) F. Drake Never Hope of Dry Battery’s Success The dry storage battery never was and never will be! This is the opinion of a prominent local electrician, who quotes one T. A. Edison to confirm his conclusions. Edison declared a dry battery never will be practicable. The Anaheimer avers that until a type of dry battery is devised which doesn’t require oxygen and hydrogen, it will never be successful. “The dry battery is something that crops up periodically and has for the last 40 years,” says this man. “I never knew of a dry battery concern yet that didn’t go broke.” "The only practicable dry battery known is one used for laboratory experiments only, where an extremely steady flow of power is required. It is not a storage battery." KING BORIS SIGNS DEATH WARRANTIES SOFIA, Sept. 15—King Boris has finally given his approval to the application of capital punishment. During the last five years, King Boris has steadfastly refused to sign death warrants, and has commuted all death sentences to life imprisonment. Lawlessness and banditry has, however, increased to such a degree that the Ministerial Council has decreed capital punishment, and the King has reluctantly consented. The King recently signed five death warrants on one day, the first that he has signed since he ascended the throne. Rumsey, who died in Fullerton August 30, leaving an estate of $19,000, was filed. Her heirs are an aged husband, who is left a trust fund of $9000, after whose death the fund will revert to the daughters. Five daughters will benefit as well. ANTI-RICHARDSON LEADER CONTROLS Sacramento, Sept. 15.-With arrival today of the vanguard of delegates to the state conventions of the various political parties which will be held here tomorrow, it appeared virtually certain that H.C. Neison, an anti-Richardson leader, would be selected chairman of the Republican meeting. Governor Richardson's forces, while opposed to Nelson, are said to feel that opposition would be useless and would only widen the rift in the party at a time when a factional fight means defeat of his presidential ticket. So Calif. delegates, upon whom Richardson must rely in case of a contest, exhibit little interest in state issues, according to spokesmen today, taking the attitude that all members of the Republican party should unite to carry the state for Coolidge and settle their family squabbles at a later date. Momentum which the LaFollette movement is reported to have gained is being used to whip leaders of various factions into line and to insure harmony in the state meeting. There is no indication of a fight in the conventions of the Democratic, Socialist or Prohibitionists. Plain Dealer Classified Ads produce results. Try this medium.
