LIBERAL EDUCATION IN NEWSPAPERS
The daily newspaper provides the means of education, in itself. The studious reader finds a complete epitome of current world news. There is no important occurrence upon the face of the earth which is not reported promptly, to greet the reader, evening and morning. This keeps the attentive, studious person in touch with all parts of the world. It is educative in history. It teaches geography—for the studious person refers to atlas on every country, city, ocean, or region of which he or she way not have familiar knowledge. It teaches manners and customs of foreign lands. It gives much regimen for thought. It enlarges one's horizon and brings the whole round world to one's feet. The very contemplation of what the newspaper does is romantic and thrilling.
Then there is much miscellany, of literary value. Feature articles from some of the most talented writers of the day. Fiction, too, in serial form. The representative, clean family newspaper of today, besides giving the latest general and local news, is a veritable high class magazine also. It has a great deal in content that is entertaining, instructive and inspiring.

General Obregon, soon to retire from the Presidency of RAISULI
Raisull was betrayed by one mous bandit chief, has been caught in a new role. In the words of the politician, he "has been reprimanded." The Spanish Director has appointed him governor of the western part of the Spanish zone in Morocco, and now he throws the weight of his power on the side of law and order.
About 65 years ago Raisull was born—of high degree in the Berber race and of position in his tribe. He was brought up with the proper instruction in learning matters and religion. He was handsome fellow of an adventurous disposition. Peaceful purse-lrked him and he adopted the profession of cattle thief. He gained some notoriety, but unfortunately made a bad move and became nuisance to the Sultan of Faso who put a price upon his head. Raisull was betrayed by one whom he trusted and was cast into the horrors of the Sultan's dugea.
While the resentful young lawyer breaker langulashed for five terribles years in prison his enemy co-rucified his property, so that while Raisull was at last released had nothing. It is said that he had been much chastened by his punishment and had concluded live a peaceful, unfortending life but he could get no rest from the government for his cost proft and that angered him. And did he swear vengeance and go to the war path. Raisull took crafty way to image trouble to the Sultan. No seized foreign travelers—English, American otherwise—and held them in ransom. When foreign governments sent warships to demand that the Sultan maintain better order in his country and obtain freedom for Raisull's prisoners the Moroccan ruler had cause to
PRESS FREEDOM HELPS MEXICO MUCH
General Obregon, soon to retire from the Presidency of Mexico, is hailed by the newspaper, Excelsior, of the City of Mexico as the champion and defender of the press. President Obregon consistently has protected newspapers in the right to publish the truth as they see it. "Even when political conditions warranted governmental restriction, President Obregon defended with systematic energy the freedom of the press."
This is an excellent record. The man who soon is to quit the Presidency of Mexico has been immeasurably useful to the neighbor republic. He came into the Presidency when the utmost skill and tactful firmness were required to stabilize things; to pacify the country; to induce the people to put aside the revolutionary gun and take up the implements of peace. He has succeeded in pacifying the country. He has established law and order better than they have been established since the days of Porfirio Díaz, exica should show grateful appreciation toward General Obregon. Certainly, on this side of the border, there is admiration and appreciation for his remarkable achievements. It is to be hoped that the new administration may pursue a corresponding policy of publication and orderly progress.

By preventing waste we offer lower prices
You realize the costliness of building by the ordinary method. First you must employ an architect, then wait for the plans, then you must select the raw lumber at high retail prices. You must pay for maximum carpenter labor and for wasted lumber. You must take the chance of the "other fellow's" mistakes.
But the Pacific ready-cut system eliminates all these troubles. It is the system that has been tried and proved—more than 10,000 structures have been erected and this year the product of the Pacific mill will exceed 3,000 homes. You seize your plans without charge, the lumber is figured on lowest price basis and it is shipped to the job ready-cut, the carpenters can devote their entire time to actual saving you time and wages.
The price of the beautiful stucco home illustrated here is but one of scores of plans we have on file can give you estimates.
