FRIDAY, JULY 25, 1924 SOCIETY BANK EMPLOYES HOLD FROLIC AT BEACH CITY The force of the Frist National Bank went to Seal Beach last night after business hours and had a delightfully pleasant evening. While a part of the crowd went in swimming, the others found various forms of amusement. A weine lake with many other goodies, followed by loads of water watermelon, made a meal "fit for a king." In the party wore W. J. Selmann, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Zitrmann, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Randall, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Alsip, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boege and Arthur and Catherine Boege, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Huelscamp, Misses Grace Johnson, Wilhelm Zitzmann, Murle Gossett, Thelma Strathman, Anny Dearyse, Cecile Atherton, Madge Sanders, Messrs O. E. Hanson Perry Smith, John Dael, Carl Palm, Theodore Clausen, Arthur Finnegan, William Brume, Arthur Wilmsen, C. E. Jorgens, Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Porter and three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Peck, Mrs. Lena Mae Nolan. Aliens in Re-union Congressman R. E. L. Allen, of West Virginia, with Mrs. Allen and daughter, Rosemond and O. O. Allen and family of LaMira-la, and J. L. Allen, Fullerton, were guests Monday at the halls of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Allen, Buena Park. With her usual skill, Mrs. Allen had prepared a sumptuous repast. R. Ethan Allen, wife and son, Los Angeles, son of the eastern-lander. One More Celebration The final gathering with her birthday anniversary the inventive was held for Mrs. T. L. Hong when the ladies of her family passed the afternoon with her yesterday. She was presented with articles for an entire white sport outfit and many other gifts for use in her home. Her mother, Mrs. Fred Pressell and her cousin, Mrs. Fred Baum each presented her with a birthday cake. A great cluster of carnations also was among the offerings. Mrs. Hong cut her cakes, of which there were three, one having been presented earlier in the day, and served them with ice cream. Enjoying the afternoon together were Mrs. Carl Pressel, Mrs. Vanatta, Mrs Fred Pressel, Mrs. Fred Baum, Mrs. Mary Zeiger and Mr. Hong and small sons. This concludes a group of parties and surprises and Mrs. Hong similarly said she wouldn't object to birthdays twice a year. Breakfast Party Little Miss Harriet Louise Gray celebrated her eleventh birthday this morning with a breakfast party at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Johnson, 496 South Philadelphia-st. The little folks were invited to arrive at 8 and were immediately served with a filling repast. But this was an unusually fine meal and concluded with ice cream and birthday cake, sent to the little girl by her mother who is in San Diego. It was a big angel food leed in pink and white and inscribed with her name and age and bore 11 candles. Donald Bigslow, Harriet's cousin, and the only boy allowed in the office. MANY GUESTS WITNESS RITES FOR YOUNG PAINTERS The wedding rites of Miss Linda more Edwardson and Mr. Richard Olsen, solemnized yesterday at 2 p.m., at the bride's home, 1 N. Miles Bessie Olsen, sister of the groom, was bride's wear with a corsage of Cecil Brunner she was very charming. The Rosenberg Kerley was ring bearer. She and the small train bearers were attired in white. No man Edwardson, brother of the bride, served Mr. Olsen as bride man. Miss Weideback played Mendel sohis wedding march as the couple took the places beneath a large white wedding bell suspend from an arch of greenery ad daisies. Angeles, son of the eastern-west will sail tomorrow for Australia and will be in the employ of British and Australian oil syndicates in that country for the next two years. They will be given bon voyage by the Aliens of the south who will accompany them to San Francisco, the Virginia Aliens then continuing to Portland, Ore., en route home. Miss Rosamond has been a student in U.S.C. and happily anticipates her return home. As soon as relieved of congressional duties Mr. Allen and family plan to return to California to make their home. Club Hems Towels Members of the Women's Press club had a very delightful meeting with Miss Elize-Jessurun as hostess last evening. The girls hemmed tea towels that will be given to the Orange-o-Fresh air camp for children, which is being conducted at Trabuco canyon. The next meeting will be held with the Misses Schaeffer, Aug. 14. A dainty salad, crackers and ice tea was served. Members present were Mesdames B. J. Van Dyke, J. E. Tipton, Harriet Boyd, Ada King Walls the Moors Ida Schaeffer and Lillian Dryse. Auxiliary Food Sale The Knott Meat Market, 310 East Center, has been chosen by the Auxiliary ladies as the place to hold their food sale tomorrow, beginning at 10:30. Every member of the auxiliary is asked to donate and those having no way to deliver their donations may call Mrs. Gus Prescott, 847-M, who will call for the articles. The business meeting will be short and a social time will be provided by the Jolly birthday hostesses, they being the Mesdames Mary McMillan, Edith Leusch, Anna Gaweleck and Ida Lake. All visiting Royal Neighbors are welcome. Party on Birthday Complimenting Miss Thelma Lamb on her birthday anniversary a number of her young friends were invited to dinner last evening by her mother, Mrs. C. C. Lamb, at their summer home at Halboa. The piece de resistance was the lovely birthday cake. Games and dancing were enjoyed after the dinner hour. Miss Thelma was to recipient of many lovely gifts. Picnic Jolly Affair The Fidellis class picnic in Orange-co park last evening drew together 40 members and friends about the tables is and for a jolly hour of visiting afterward. LA HABRA Fine Day for Sunbeams The all-day meeting of Liberty Sunbeams held at the ranch home of Mrs. M. Shay near Yorba Linda, was a delightfully fine one, with 36 members attending. A long table was placed on the front porch, which is screened in and the menu surpasses any expectations. In the afternoon the ladies played cards or worked at their sewing, as fancy dictated, and at a late hour Mrs. Shay served them with orange ade and sweets. McDaniel of Lansdown, about a mile RADICAL PARTY IS "PROGRESSIVE" WASHINGTON, July 25. The "Progressive" party came into exisence today as the official designation for the standard carried by Senator Robert M. LaFollette in his independence drive for the White House. The party name was chosen only by the "committee of eleven" which will direct the LaFollette-Wheeler campaign. It will be used in every state in which the LaFollette forces establish an independent ticket of presidential electors. The party emblem will be the American liberty bell. Announcement of the party name selection was made by Robert M. LaFollette, Jr., after an all morning session of the committee. Young LaFollette declared that progressive electors would be placed in the field in all states from which the party was not barred by time limitations. In a few instances, it was explained, time limits for the filing of declaration papers have expired. The committee also elected young LaFollette its vice chairman, and Mrs. Mabel C. Barnet Halstead, who was removed as chief of police of Availon after he was accused of burglary when alleged to have seized ten cases of whiskey, was enroute here today from Catalina Island to confer with state and national prohibition officers.
