ANAHEIM SENDS
NEEDFUL GIFTS
TO CANYON CAMP
"A GIFT from Anaheim" started arriving on its way this morning to the fresh air camp for undernourished children in Trabuco canyon, R. W. Balch, who already is responsible for securing and delivering much of the equipment of the camp, leaving at 5 a.m. Meeting with Miss Rea yesterday ladies of the Ebell and ramp of their friends made up a nice contribution, in response to call from Orange County Federation of clubs, thru Mrs. C. C. Violet, chairman. Thru their industry the gift included 5 sheets, 21 white pillow cases, 13 colored cases, 15 pillows, 7 bath towels, 6 other towels, 18 huck towels, wash clothes and 39 outing night caps, besides a handkerchief and a napkin.
This committee desires illustrated magazines such as Ladies' Home Journal, Pictorial Review, Delaware Good Housekeeping and like publications which contain colored illustrations for care of the body, and of various vegetable dishes; these to be made into scrap books and kept by the children as helpful souvenirs of the happy outing in camp. Table games, clean bed coverings, blankets, mattresses made, all will be thankfully accepted by calling Mrs. Terry, 113W or Miss Rea, 834-W.
There are 29 children in camp at present, 5 girls and 14 boys, from 8 to 17 years old. The camp is made possible through the sale of Christmas seals each year and the greater the sales the larger the camp. Money donations have more than 150 Spanish war veterans and their families went to Orange-co. park Tuesday evening to eat steaks and to relive the days when their chief ambition was to put the don on the run, and which they did effectively.
The long tables were pretty and gay with flags and flowers, to say nothing of the incompatible menu, topped off with sizzling steaks cooked over the big fires. There was no time for speechmaking as the boys were too busy with their meal.
Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Donnelly and daughters, Rose and Elizabeth represented Anaheim. A number of Fullerton families also were present.
Calpitt camp is growing rapidly now numbering more than 100 members. Headquarters is maintained in Santa Ana, and includes veterans from all over the county.
