C. Jerome. In the total exemption 2211 claims were represented, approximately 35 per cent more than were presented last year. Last year 1753 claims were presented, representing a valuation of $891,120. The increase was 553 claims and $337,200 in valuation. The steady increase in the number and total of exemptions indicates, according to Jerome that more and more ex-service persons are acquiring Orange co property. At the same time he said that a number of the former soldiers each automatically eliminate themselves from the privileges of the exemption by acquiring property in value exceeding $5900, the limit for which tax exemption may be claimed.
