EX-SERVICE MEN
EXEMPT MILLION
Ex service persons in Orange co secured property tax exemptions of $1,226,320 this year, a 40 per cent increase over last year, according to County Assessor W. C. Jerome.
In the total exemption 2211 claims were represented, approximately 35 per cent more than were presented last year. Last year 1753 claims were presented, representing a valuation of $891,120. The increase was 553 claims and $337,200 in valuation.
The steady increase in the number and total of exemptions indicates, according to Jerome that more and more ex-service persons are acquiring Orange co property. At the same time he said that a number of the former soldiers each automatically eliminate themselves from the privileges of the exemption by acquiring property in value exceeding $5900, the limit for which tax exemption may be claimed.
