Falkenstein) Having been requested to say a few words about the relationship of the various Civic Clubs to the C. of C., I shall try to do so altho this subject is a rather big one for me, not being used to writing for publication. The Ebell Club, the Rotary Club, the Lions Club, the Professional and Business Women's Club and the Kiwanis club are service clubs, altho the last four are commonly called luncheon clubs—a name that should forever be taboo—as they are organized for service to the community, service to their fellow citizens. This is the part they play in the relationship to a Chamber of Commerce, organized for the purpose of service, also, but on a much larger scale than the Clubs can ever assume, being open for membership for everybody while the clubs naturally are limited by certain ruler in their membership. There are many projects and plans, which a C. of C. may propose, but which never could be successfully worked out, were it not for the co-operation of the various Service Clubs. Take for instance our "Better Homes Week" which was held only a few weeks ago with such a tremendous success. The C. of C. asked the various service clubs for their co-operation and they entered into the plan with a vim and will that made it such a success. Anaheim, by the way, was the only city in the county which answered the call of our government for a "Better Homes Week" an item well worthy of mention, and it reflects great credit for the alertness and efficiency of our C. of C.'s head and able assistants, not to let such an opportunity of service to the public pass by. The Lions club of Anaheim will within the next few days unveil a beautiful monument, a gift to our new City Park, in the shape of a fountain for the use of the community. Is that not a fine point of service? Is that not a fine place where they travel, every guest in the hotels where they stop will be singing, "Nothing Could be Finer than to be an Anaheim in the Morning." Is that not a service to Anaheim? Let me mention here also that the Business and Professional Women's Club of Anaheim sent a substantial check to the Kiwanis Club to help pay expenses to send the Kiwanis Double Quartet to Denver. Fine spirit of service and co-operation, is it not! Advertising Anaheim is the object of sending the double quartet on its journey and here is surely a connecting link between the C. of C. and the service clubs, because one of the main functions of the C. of C. is advertising and nothing appeals to the people more than good music. Our lately acquired industrial site was helped to a great extent by the assistance of the various service clubs by not only talking it at their weekly luncheons, but by assisting with their membership, who are worthy members of the C. of C—and if they are not they should be—in taking the necessary subscription to make the purchase of this valuable piece of land possible. Such acts as those mentioned form the relationship of service and co-operation between the various service clubs and our C. of C. Soon our C. of C. will be calling on those of our citizens who are not members to join. Orchardists, ranchers, business and professional men and women, clergymen and teachers, let us all join, let us all pull together in harmony for service and co-operation and help build up our fast growing beautiful Anaheim, and if we ALL do that our Anaheim C. of C. working constantly for the best of our city, will be the better of all like institutions throughout the beautiful southland. OPEN ALL PARTS OF COUNTY SOON If conditions continue to improve the government quarantine on parts of Orange-co and So. Calif. may be lifted within two weeks, it was predicted today by A. A. Brock, county horticultural commissioner and quarantine officer. The quarantine has already been lifted in this county, Brock said, from all territory but that south of the S. P. tracks and west of the Santa Ana river. No restrictions are placed on the movement of agricultural products, Brock added, with the exception that animals with cloven hoofs and manure must not be moved. For seven days no new cases of the disease have been reported in the state, he added. CARS IN COLLISION An accident occurred on Char-tres-at in front of the Anaheim creamery late Thursday in which a large car driven by a woman giving her name as Mrs. Zeigler struck a car backing out from the curb owned by J. "Nanny" has a temper, and takes great pleasure in "landing" on the "ceps," or anyone else who happens to come within reach. She also has very bad manners, trying to tear up the "furniture" by attempting to make a meal of whatever is loose about the machine that happens to suit her taste. The police are very anxious to find an owner. It's now the time of year we get our money-lust changed into wander-lust.
