STOCKS AWAITING NEW LEGISLATION
NEW YORK, May 19.—The stock market marked time today. Its waiting attitude was perfect; logical in view of the many uncertainties surrounding the political situation.
While the action of the house in overriding the presidential bonus veto was in line with ex-pectations, the financial and business world was entirely at sea a to the probable outcome of the contest in the senate and the effect the eventual repassing of the measure would have on the chief executive's stand on the tax bill.
Under the circumstances, the natural thing for Well Street to

Anaheim Players' club will present "Folied," a modern traveller composed of several dastardly scenes and many shivers at the California tonight.
The story deals with a poor, but innocent helmsman in a small town who is unhappily pursued by a deep dyed-in-the-wool villain with a Milwaukee breath.
Many tense situations arise in which the villain is constantly folded by the homespun hero and his many friends.
For a gripping, thrilling, tear shedding play, this one has the whole cock-eyed world cheated worse than when Charles Chaplin stole Copatra from the Kaiser.
An al-star cast of local artists directed by Griff Barnette feature this melodrama De Luxe and should endear themselves to the hearts of all play-goers.
Prices for tonight are: Adults, 55c; children, special price, 17c.
There will be but one performance of "Folled" immediately after the first show. Director Griff Barnette of the Anaheim Players' club will have full charge of all plays produced by the club and will star in many to come.
SUPERVISORS FOR INDUSTRIAL ASS'N.
Further invasion of Orange-co-bay the Greater Los Angeles Ass'n in its $50,000,000 industrial drive will take place tonight, when Orange will hold its organization meeting, similar to the gatherings already held in Anaheim and Pullerton, Santa Ana's meeting will follow.
The full text of the resolution of endorsement passed by county supervisors, being given wide publicity by the association, is:
"The attention of this board having been called to the aims of the Greater Los Angeles Ass'n recently organized in that city, and it appearing to this board that such an organization, directed by able men, will probably produce greater practical, substantial and beneficial results than any organization ever established, and it also appearing that the parties who have initiated this organization are eminently qualified to finance and manage such an assortment."
DES MOINES MAN BUYS BIG TRACT
The west half of the ranch known as the Hansen dairy, consisting of 160 acres, five miles west of Anaheim on the Ball-rd, changed hands this week for a cash consideration of $200,000. It was announced Saturday by Alfred H. Hansen, who represented his mother, Mrs. Renette Hansen of Long Beach, in the sale of the property.
The purchaser was C. A. Coon of Des Moines, Ia., financier, who has spent the last year in Los Angeles, and who was represented in the transaction by Trent & Dollarhide, Long Beach brokera.
The property has been turned over to the firm of Trent & Dollarhide for subdivision and sale in small acreage, probably one to 8-acre plots.
With this sale, passed the last large acreage in the territory between Long Beach and Anaheim, outside of the land held by the Bixby and Hellmans.
The ranch was developed by the late Gus Hansen, one of the pioneer dairy men of the county, who maintained a dairy herd of some 300 head there for years, and who established the Hansen dairy. Eleventh and Wall-sts, Los Angeles, which still bears the family name, altho the family's interest has been disposed of. The ranch improvements, including the large dairy barns and the water supply, are on the half retained by Mrs. Hansen, widow of the original owner.
Hansen Station, on the Santa Ana line of the P. E. out of Los Angeles, is six miles west of Anaheim.
The last large acreage to change hands in the vicinity was 116 acres, a half mile west of the Hansen tract, which Mrs. Jessie K. Scott sold to the Ingram Park Co. of Los Angeles.

Under the circumstances, the natural thing for Wall Street to do was to limit commitments accordingly. There was nothing in the week-end business news to influence values, although reports from industrial districts contained a spirit of hopefulness which could not be entirely ignored. Especially in regard to the barometric plot iron situation, the feeling was distinctly more cheerful.
Politics was uppermost in Wall Street's mind. An attempt to unsettle the industrial list by exerting pressure against the leaders proved unsuccessful, except in a few isolated instances, like Stewart Warner, yellow Cab, Congolese and Anaconda.
The market turned exceedingly dull on the reaction, indicating that stocks had sold to a standstill.
The railroad group was again bright spot in the situation. With call money being offered in abundance at 3 per cent and time funds loaning at 3% for 30 days, the trend in investment rates was toward higher levels. Chicago and Northwestern and New Orleans, Texas and Mexico were the chief beneficiaries, the latter selling up to a new high for the year.
Some of the minor carriers were also increased demand.
Foreign exchanges were featured by heaviness in French France. Cotton steadied after initial irregularity. Grains were firn. Bond trading showed up perceptibly. U.S. Government issued showed a reactionary tendency trend.
Foreign governments ruled steady.
Stock sales today totalled 134.700 shares; bonds $8,016.000.

QUIZ COUPLE OVER POISONING DEATH
LOS ANGELES, May 19—An autopsy to determine the exact cause of death was ordered by Coroner Nance today following the death of pretty Blanche Esshoni, 21, who is claimed to have taken poison last night at an apartment in Grattan-st.
Miss Eshom's mother is said to live in San Francisco.
At the same time the police planned to interrogate Rex Johnson, 27, said to be the girl's sweetheart, and Mrs. Sophia Rieser, in whose home the girl is said to have taken the poison.
Mrs. Rieser and Johnson told the police the girl swallowed lysol with suicide intent. Police surgeons who examined Miss Eshom, said that while the girl undoubtedly died of poison, they found no traces of lysol.
Mrs. Rieser and Johnson were held in jail over night.

PLAN STUDY OF ORGANIC UNION
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., May 19—The Methodist General Conference today had under consideration a plan for appointment of a special commission of 25 including five bishops, ten pastors and ten laymen, to make a complete study of the problem of organic union.
Upon recommendations of a special committee of nine, headed by Bishop Luther B. Wilson, of New York, the committee reported in favor of greater catholicity in the churches and the work of the commission will be to encourage the work of re-uniting the evangelical churches.
Inquiry was being made by the committee on judiciary as to the status of the under-graduates in the summer schools of theology. The committee will determine whether such students can have their expenses paid by the annual conferences.
Close co-operation between the Epworth league and Sunday schools is favored by the committee on Sunday schools in a report today to the conference.
OIL PRODUCTION INCREASES IN CALIF.
SAN FRANCISCO, May 19.—Production of crude oil in Calif. for April showed a slight increase over March, according to American Petroleum Institute, which gives 19,299,849 barrels, an increase of 965 barrels a day over preceding month.
The amount actually produced was slightly less than the March figure, however, the institute believes, because 20,000 barrels per day of production was shut in during March and released the following month.
Total stocks on hand at the end of the month were 97,335,651 barrels, an increase of more than 600,000.
