PLACENTIA
PLACENTIA, May 16.—(Spi.) William C. Cahier has sold his property on North Main-st, consisting of a lot and two houses to Richard White, assistant postmaster. Mr. Cahier will build a house on his lot in the Fullerton subdivision in the near future.
The Joseph of the Presbyterian church spent a very happy time together on Friday evening when about 100 interested members of the Sunday school gathered to mother to honor E. C. Basten and his Sanday school class who won first place in the contest, "An Automobile Trip to New York," Mrs. Mary F. Key's class was also honored as it held second place. A splendid supper was served by the women of the congregation, Mr. Basten and his class occupied a table in the center of the room which was centered by a marmoth cake with the word "Stutz" outlined on the top, the name of the automobile that won the race. The table occupied by Mrs. Key's class of young girls was adorned with a large cake, too. It also held a miniature automobile ready to start on the return trip from New York to San Francisco and a steamship for "Preparedness" to travel further, if possible. Cheers and yells were given during the supper hour by the different classes. After supper speeches were in order and each teacher gave a short talk on the work done and to be done. Readings were given by the Misses Helen Murdick, Dorothy Taylas and June Woodson. Miss Ruth Woodson gave a pretty piano solo. The rest of the evening was spent playing games.
The Griffith Co. has been quite busy fulfilling their contract of paying the streets of Placentia. The asphalt is being put on Walnut-st today and Melrose is in readiness. Main-st is being prepared and H. F. Lilley is busy finishing the curbing on Center-st. Crowther and Chapman-aves have been widened about two and a half feet on each side with concrete and the entire surface will soon receive a coat of asphalt.
Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Wingfield, who have been in charge of the Dalley Rock Bottom store for some will confer with L. Wayne McCullom, engineer for the Placontia district with reference to the percentage levien to be paid.
Joe Conger has been transferred to Taft and will take up his duties there immediately. Mrs. Conger and the children will spend the summer with her mother in the east.
The Better Mothers' club will hold its regular meeting Thursday afternoon at the Round Table clubhouse. The occasion will be a reception to the Round Table ladies. The speaker is Professor Tracy of the Fullerton Union High school and he will talk on "Wild Flowers of California," an intensely interesting subject at this time of year especially.
The regular meeting of the Round Table club last Wednesday afternoon called out one of the largest crowds of the season. It was "Music Day" and each member was privileged to invite two guests. The floral decorations were unusually fine and altho the day was warm, the windows were open and a fine breeze made the scene like an open-air fiesta. During the business meeting an invitation was read from the Better Mothers' club to the Round Table club, inviting them to a reception in their honor on Thursday, May 15.
The program committee announced that the May 21st meeting would be in the form of a garden party at the C. C. Chapman home on Cypress-ave, Mrs. Chapman having tendered the garden for this event, and the following were named as heads of committees: Flower booth, Mrs. H. F. Dicker; punch, Mrs. H. Sullivan; ice cream, Mrs. A. J. Barnhart; tea, Mrs. J. C. Thamer; candy, Mrs. Sam Newnes; fortune tellers, Mrs. Lottie Morse and Mrs. Sommers; slide show, Mrs. A. Pierotti; music, Mrs. J. E. Scott; beauty parlor, Mrs. Charles Hansen; games, Mrs. George Thomas; gatekeeper, Mrs. Fred Cline. The hostesses are: Mrs. C. C. Chapman, Miss Cuff, Mrs. W. C. MeFarland, Mrs. S. W. McCollach, Mrs.W.J.Carmichael and Mrs.W.I.Travers. It is needless to say that with these ladies in charge the success of the garden party is a foregone conclusion, and as the affair is open to the public, everybody being invited, it will undoubtedly be the social event of goles June 2, with a luncheon at California women on June 3 noon at the Biltmore. All reservations must be individual and

WHY SUFFER SO?
Get Back Your Health as Other Anaheim Folks Have Done.
Too many people suffer lame, aching backs, distressing kidney disorders and rheumatic aches and pains. Often this is due to faulty kidney action and there's danger of hardened arteries, dropsy, gravel or Bright's disease. Don't let weak kidneys wear you out. Use Doan's Pills before it is too late! Doan's are a stimulant diuretic to the kidneys. Doan's have helped thousands. They should help you. Here is one of many Anaheim cases!
Mrs. G. Click, 411 N. Philadelphia St., says: "I am glad to recommend Doan's Pills, for I know they will do what is claimed for them. My kidneys were weak and inactive. I felt dull and languid and my back was weak and lame. Doan's had been used in my family for years, so I decided to try them. Doan's cured me of all signs of kidney complaint."
Price 60c at all dealers. Don't simply ask for a kidney remedy—get Doan's Pills—the name that Mrs. Click had. Foster-Milburn Co., Mfrs., Buffalo, N.Y.
