It is easy to get any other kind of beverage in London restaurants, but it is next to impossible to get a waiter to bring you a glass of water. Some persons may pertinently inquire why anyone should want water with so many other kinds of drinks so readily available, but the fact remains that there are occasional customers who crave a draught of "nature's own" thirst quencher, and they have a tough time getting it. The licensing justice of St. Annie's and St. James' however, have kicked the old anti-water tradition into the discard. In granting a license to Chong Choy to operate a Chinese cafe they gave him the privilege of selling wine and beer, but stipulated that "facilities must be given to customers to drink water." So far as is known this action of the justice creates a precedent. Perhaps other restaurants will fall into line, but it is likely that Chong Choy's will become the only restaurant in London famous for its drinking water. Mr. Charles Edwards, a former of police, is to be Shrine provisor commander. He will be assisted by C. A. Vassar, another form Kansas City police chief, and two of Shriners from visiting cities will be members of the post guard. The rovost guard will mill amon the crowd—100,000 visitors expected. Shrine officers may prevent trouble. If the oceanic demands the provost guards will act as policemen in an air turbance invoking the visitor besides police authority the guill will have authority to take the from any noble guilty of misduct. There will be no delay in handliness, Major Edwards said. The court will be held to dispense cases as they are brought to the attention of the police.
