FIVE NEW OUTREAKS
LOS ANGELES, April 12 — With five new outbreaks of the hoof and mouth disease reported in Los Angeles co., during the last 24 hour period, Undersheriff Gene Biscallus today issued orders to enforce all quarantine rules up the letter and arrest all violators.
Several additional deputies were sworn in and sent to points in the San Fernando Valley where all the new cases were reported.
Eighteen violators of quarantine regulations were arrested in Watts for cutting and moring hay in Goburn Park without a permit and paid fines of $15 each when hailed into justice court.
According to R. H. Chariton, federal forest supervisor, more than half of the Angeles forest reserve has been closed pending the lifting of the quarantine regulations and orders were issued today that no persons be allowed to enter this area, except those residing there permanent persons who can assure they have legitimate there.
