Plain Dealer Classified Ads Always Being Results ADD 2000 BARRELS TO TORRANCE FIELD The controversy as to whether Torrance-Lomita field has a deep oil sand will be settled in the near future. Two wells are on the way for a test, on the north side of the field, the Superior Oil Co.'s No. 18, and in the central east section of the field the Bush-Voorhis Oil Co.'s Fee No. 1. The Superior has passed the 4200 mark and the Bush well 3000 feet. Geologists and petroleum engineers have charted and correlated the field and claim that the geology of the Torrance-Lomita district cannot possibly include a deep sand. Drilling will decide who is right. The biggest addition to Torrance's production last week was the 500-barrel well completed by E. I. Doheny on the Petroleum Securities property. No 5, drilled to 2700, is producing 23-gravity clean oil. Doheny has a drilling program that includes ten wells, and is second in line with the Chanslor-Canfield Midway for development work at Torrance. About 2000 barrels of new production was added to the Torrance field's output this week and include a 225-barrel well on the Empire Dig. Co.'s McDonald, a couple of wells by Geo.F.Getty, totaling 350 barrels; a 300-barrel well by the Grunwell corporation, barrel well, two wells Midway Northern 4 a 100-barrel well; two wells completed by the Petroleum Midway, totaling 420 barrels, the Chanslor-Canfield's 100-barrel Kettler 2, and the Woolner well; a 150-barrel pump completed by the Federal Drilling Co. The once greatest high-gravity field of the west is down to 113,000 barrels daily and the output continues declining at a 1000 barrels a day. In 60 days Santa Fe Springs will not be making any more oil than Huntington Beach. The only new production of importance at the Springs this past week was the 40-barrel well completed by Reid-Berliner on the Reiber property and the 85-barrel pumping well on the Standard Oil's Koonis lease. Reid-Berliner have had their troubles from the beginning at Santa Fe Springs and quit the field with a dinky 40-barrel well. The Standard Oil Co. Koonis 5 was put on the pump at 4621 and is making 31-gravity oil. The Elliott Consolidated Oil Co. is bringing in its No. 1 at 4658 and the well looks like it will make around 500 barrels. The Associated Oil Co.'s Clark 12 went on a 180-barrel pumper at 4762. The Shell Co. succeeded in getting Slusher 7 fixed up and producing 400 barrels. The Union Oil Co.'s next best well will be at Howard No. 7, where at 4700 a good showing of oil was found.
