Mr. Chas, Thomas underwent an operation for the removal of his tonsils on Friday, Dr. Cochran preparing the operation. At last weeks regular meeting of the Eastern Star, five new members were taken into the order. They were Mrs. Edmonds, Mrs. B. Foe, Mrs. Carpenter, Mrs. Marshall and Mrs. Homer May. Little Miss Marjorie Knight is convalescing from a recent attack of the tumps. Several friends met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Brown the first of the week and surprised Mrs. W. G. A 6:30 chicken pot luck supper began the festivities after which cards were enjoyed for several hours. Mr. and Mrs. Rospaw of the local "star" motored to San Diego on Saturday, returning Sunday evening. Moore home was broken into the end of the week and several articles are reported missing, among them being a gray suit of Mr. Moore's. Two hundred Nevada mustangs, captured in the wilds of Humboldt county have been shipped to Santa Barbara, Calif., for chicken feed. The Nevada ponies, small through infreeding, though tough and wiry and able to thrive even in extreme winters, are useless to man. Cattlemen declare these wild horses drive off domesticated mares; tramp down watering troughs that have been dragged for miles with a rope around the saddle horn, and raise havoc at the scattered water holes in the cattle ranges. The stamping grounds of these shaggy, bushy-tailed ponies are dotted with the bleached bones of thousands killed by hunters, hired for that purpose.
