POINCAIRE STIRS
BAVARIAN HATE
MUNICH, Feb. 7.—Wherever you go in Bavaria these days bears a hymn of hate against France. Today, in an exclusive interview with the Bavarian minister of the interior, Dr. Franz Schweger, the reporter casually mentioned Poincare's name, whereupon the usually very dignified minister completely lost his temper. Pounding the table with his hat, he cried:
"That scoundrel—do you understand me?—that scoundrel, Poincare, has the effrontery to declare in the French chamber of deputies that France is observing an absolutely neutral attitude toward separatism in the occupied territories. All the world knows that France is actively supporting separation in every way she can. But believe me the day will come when she will suffer for it. In two or twenty years we shall see Me really lost the war."
Of Royer apologized for having opened his temper, though adding: "what I have said to you just happens. Only I am sorry to get angry cited; but no true German dentist talk about France without from furious."

In all probability the Biltmore Oil Co. will get a commercial producer at its No. 1 on Carson-ave north side of the Terrance-Lomita field.
The well is showing considerable gas, and balling has removed a quantity of mud and considerable oil from the hole and all indications now are that soon as the well cleans up and gets underway it will make good Considerable difficulty has been experienced with the well I getting it cleaned out. However the good gas showing and the oil in the hole puts the well beyond a doubt for a commercial producer.
The Gilmore Oil Co. will be the first in the Torrance field to complete a well with cable tools. I view of the fact that Lomita is bringing in 200 and 300 barrels where 800 and 1000 barrels used to be the compliants, and the gas in the productive area seems to have been pretty well dissipated so much that the pressure is not sufficient to clean up rotary holes it is believed the cable tool well will be a better producer.
The Gilmore drilled its No. 2 well to 3500 and there set casing, using rotary. The completion work in the oil zone from 3500 on will be cable and require considerable more time, but better results are expected. The completion of the Gilmore well by operators of the TorranceLomita field will be watched with great interest.
The Chanlor-Canfield Midway Oil Company led the producers of the Torrance field this past week with a 1050 barrel well. This is the biggest well of the wreck, who completed at Torrance No. 28.The next producer of importance was the Huntington-Signal Oil Co.'s Bart a 600-barrel well.A 200 barrel well was completed by the Empire Drilling Company at Arline K.Julian's Cook No. 2916 looks like a 450 barrel well James P.Nugent's No. 1 started at 400 and increased to 600the Petroleum Midway put two pumping wells on production Wilson Community 2 a 200 barrel well and Wilson Community 3 a 400 barrel well, and the Sentinel Oil Co.completed its Hunter No. 1 and got a 400 barrel well.
A year ago Signal Hill was "doped" as finished However the prediction has not hold, but the production at close to 235,000 barrels daily has.The discovery property of the dll field the Alta

NINTH VICTIM OF POISONING IS DEAD
ALBANY, Ore., Feb. 7. — Another victim of the fatal family dinner last Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Gerber was added to the toll taken by the deadly botulinus poison, which had developed in home-canned beans served at the meal, when Mrs. Reinhold Gerber died at 7:30 a.m. today, bringing the total number of deaths to nine.
Paul Gerbig and his 3-year-old daughter Marguerite are not expected to survive the day, while 2-year-old Horst Ruehling is believed to be out of danger and probably will recover.
In the event of the death of Gerbig and his daughter, little Horst Ruehling will be the sole survivor of the three families who sat down to the fatal family reunion repast Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Gotfried Ruehling, parents of Horst, had only been in Oregon one month, coming directly to Albany from Germany.

Beach district. The Shell Company is now exploring the deep sand on its property and is being rewarded with 4500 and 5000 barrel wells. Alamitos No. 11 completed at 5050 feet is flowing 5000 barrels of 26 gravity clean oil. This is the biggest producer the southeast section of the Hill has yet had and adds tremendous interest to a part of the field that a year ago was considered of little value.
SUES SON-IN-LAW FOR HOME EQUITY
Declaring that after the death of her daughter, she was compelled by her son-in-law to leave the house, toward which she had contributed $2,990, Mrs. Louisa Parker, Santa Ana, today testified in Superior Judge Z. R. West's court at the trial of her suit for $2000 against the son-in-law, Claire T. Johnson.
In 1921, she said, Johnson built a house on Bush-st and Mrs. Parker contributed $2,000 toward the cost of the new house when her daughter told her, she said, that the son-in-law thought she should do so.
Soon after the new home was occupied the daughter died, and she was finally, she said, forced to leave.
J. J. Cordova and N. D. Cook both charged with possession of liquor, were each in the county jail today in default of $500. In the case of Cordova it was $500 bail, while in that of Cook it was a $500 fine.
Cordova, arraigned before Justice J. B. Cox late yesterday pleaded not guilty. His trial was set for March 14 at 2 p.m. lacking funds to provide bail, he went to jail. Cook pleaded guilty and went to jail to serve out his fine at the rate of one day for each dollar.
STEAMER AGROUND
ASTORIA, Feb. 7. — The steamer Edna, bound for California with a full cargo aboard, was still aground near Flavel, west of Astoria, early today despite efforts of the coast guard cutter Tamora and the tug Onconta, to pull her into deep water.
The Edna went aground yesterday during a heavy fog while attempting to pass out to sea.
