BUSINESS IS GENERALLY GOOD County, reported remarkably good sales in January, which was an improvement even on December, also an excellent month. Used car sales were "very good indeed," according to Bill Goodrum of the Anaheim Auto Co. Sales of new cars were larger than in December. Most models of the Buick can be delivered at once. January sales of Packard and Roo cars were larger in January than in December and very much larger than in January, 1923, according to Manager C. F. Cromer of Dale and Co. The Appleby Motor Co. reported the sale of 20 Star cars here and five in Santa Ana. The total was approximately the same as in December. President Sullivan looks for an improvement in business around Feb. 15. January sales were exceptionally good, W. R. Sehanhals, Willys-Knight and Overland distributor declared considerably better than in December. More Willys-Knights were sold than Overlands. Schanhalts expects February will be a still better month. The Rob White Co. reported sales of both Nash and Franklin cars were better than during the previous month. No Power Lost With the Rayfield A distinct feature of the Rayfield carburetor for Lords is the fact that after it is once adjusted, no further adjustments are made necessary on account of seasonable weather changes. This is made possible by the use of the thermostatic air rutter, (patent applied for) which is a feature found on the Rayfield Carburetor only, says a statement reaching Rolert Jensen, local distributor. In cold weather this shutter remains closed and does not admit cold air into the carburetor, thus requiring for all heated air in the building of Central Memorial Park, Carl Statt, also a director, said in part. "While giving credit where credit is due to Mr. McKenzie, under whose leadership Central Memorial Park has taken form, perhaps the greater thing after all is for each and every one to know that state control of the finances for permanent care of this park, and adequate protection against the failure in planning through any loss of the present guidance we have enjoyed is to be had. At Mr. McKenzie's request, a trust in behalf of the purchasers is being perfected." Alex P. Some of the teachers plan to go to Los Angeles, some to Long Beach, San Diego, and other schools. MEMORIAL PARK HOLDERS MEET With a host of forceful speakers as well as a number of enjoyable features of lighter vein including musical numbers by Mrs Staples orchestra and the original Uncle Josh of KFI station, the regular Friday night meeting of the holders and directors of Central Memorial Park at Odd Fellows Temple, Long Beach, emphasized the meaning of this project to the community. Col. H. R. Fay, general secretary of the Long Beach C. of C., laid particular stress upon the general community interest of this Memorial Park. Drawing comparisons with similar projects in other parts of the world, he pictured this as not only California's finest and most artistically conceived, but greater than any in America. The rapidity with which Californians act and the grand scale on which they plan and work, he said, startles the world into looking to California for models. Stressing upon the public security and distinctly institutional phases of the building of Central Memorial Park, Carl Statt, also a director, said in part. At Mr. McKenzie's request, a trust in behalf of the purchasers is being perfected." field carburetor for Ford is the fact that after it is once adjusted no further adjustments are made necessary on account of seasonable weather changes. This is made possible by the use of the thermostatic air shutter (patent applied for) which is a feature found on the Rayfield Carburetor only, says a statement reaching Robert Jensen, local distributor. In cold weather this shutter remains closed and does not admit cold air into the carburetor, thus providing for all heated air in the carburetor. In warmer and hot weather the thermostatic air shutter will automatically open up after the motor reaches a running temperature, admitting a certain amount of cool air and providing for the same temperature of air supplied to the carburetor all the year around. The air shutter is made of an alloy of expensive metals, known as thermostatic metal, which expands or contracts automatically on the application of heat or cold. Every Ford owner realizes that during hot weather the loss of power in the sector, caused by the fact that the carburetor and cannifold reach too high a temperature for efficiency, is very noticeable. With the Rayfield thermostatic control the carburetor operates at the same temperature at all times, thereby maintaining the same power and performance regardless of weather conditions. Every Rayfield carburetor produced for Ford cars is subjected to a severe test on a Ford motor before shipment. Every one is therefore perfect; it is also covered by the regular Rayfield guarantee. PUTTING LIGHTS IN NEWHALL TUNNEL Motorists using the island route of the state highway will be interested in the information that the lights are being installed in 'the Newhall tunnel between San Fernando and Newhall. Owing to this stretch of highway being less than 18 feet in width in the tunnel and the fact that the bore is 435 feet in length, there has been a pronounced accident hazard. The installation of the inverted bowl lights without glares is expected to eliminate this danger. All is ready for installation of the lights and it is expected that the work will be completed soon.
