ARIZONA FORESEES PROSPEROUS YEAR
PHOENIX, Jan. 28.—High cotton prices, with a bountiful crop, together with successful diversified farming, promise unbounded prosperity for Arizona and the Salt River valley this year.
The total yield of cotton will go far over the early estimates of 60,000 bales, it is stated on good authority. Early oranges and grapefruit are now going on to the eastern and European markets; the lettuce crop will soon be ready for harvesting. Farmers and workers are busy hauling cotton to the gins, and merchants of the city are beginning to feel the effect of more money in circulation.
Conditions throughout the state seem more favorable than for months past. D. C. Jackling, head of one of the leading copper producing plants, said recently that the position of copper was as good if not better, than that of any other metal.
While the copper market has been slightly under last year's quotations, the increased sales have given reassurances that conditions are bettering. None of the large properties has closed down, and all of the mining camps, including the gold camps of northern Arizona, are busy, according to reports reaching the state mine inspector's office.

Income Tax Queries
In order to file an accurate income tax return for the year 1923, taxpayers of every class, business and professional men, salaried pereons, wage earners and farmers were advised yesterday by Collector of Internal Revenue Rex B. Goodell, to present to themselves for consideration the following questions:
Did you receive any interests on bank deposits?
Have you any property from which you receive rent?
Did you receive any income in the form of dividends or interest from stocks or bonds?
Did you receive any bonuses during the year?
Did you make any profit on the sale of real estate, stocks, bonds, etc.?
Did you act as broker in any transaction for which you received a commission?
Are you interested in any partnership or other firm from which you receive income?
Have you any income from royalties or patents?
Have you any minor children who are working?
Have you control of the earnings of such children? If so, the amount must be included in the parent's return of income.
Has your wife any income from any source whatever? If so, it must be included in your return, or reported in a separate return of income.
Did you receive any directors' fees or trustees' fees in the course of the year?
Did you hold any office in a benefit society from which you received income?
Answers to these questions are necessary in the filing of a correct income tax return, Collector Goodeell declared.
If single (or married and not living with wife) and the net income was $1000 or more or the gross income $5000 or more, or if married and living with wife

ELEVEN AWAIT
DAY OF DOOM
SACRAMENTO, Jan. 28—Eleven murderers await execution in state penitentiaries, and four of them are sentenced to pay the supreme penalty before the end of March, it was announced today at the governor's office.
W. Yeager, Madera county clayser, is sentenced to die at San Quentin, Feb. 29, and Aurelillo Pompa, convicted in Los Angeles, will be executed at the same prison, March 7.
A double execution is set for March 14, when Robert Matthew and Joseph Sinuel, Los Angeles negroes, will pay the death penalty.

Did you receive any directors' fees or trustees' fees in the course of the year?
Did you hold any office in a benefit society from which you received income?
Answers to these questions are necessary in the filing of a correct income tax return, Collector Goodcell declared.
If single (or married and not living with wife) and the net income was $1000 or more or the gross income $5000 or more, or if married and living with wife and the couple's net income was $2000 or more, or the gross income was $5000 or more, a return is required. The fact that the income may not be taxed by reason of the personal exemptions—$1000 for single persons, $2500 for married persons whose net income was $5000 or less and $2000 for married persons whose net income was in excess of $5,000, plus the $400 credit for each dependent—does not alter this requirement.
Persons whose net income was $5000 or less and was derived chiefly from salary or wages should ask for Form 1040-A. Those whose net income was in excess of $5000 or regardless of the amount was derived from business, profession or farming, should ask for Form 1040.
"File your return today and avoid the rush," Collector Goodcell advised.
