NEW TO END NOISE
YOUR RADIO SET
In the possible exception of there is no reason why a radio made noise without function, giving clear distortion, signals from stations within receiving range. All trouble can be traced to defective poor construction, or unintended operation.
Jack Binns in the early issue of Popular Science every noise has no impact, he declares, and no noise not discourage the radio. If your radio produces noises, it much better off than the who turns on the juice, plugs phones, and hears—nothing crackling noise can be traced to run-down batteries, poor connections, or defective cables and condensers. Listen with serial and ground disconnected, and, if that eliminates down the crackling, the noise is due to static. If the persists, static is not the sound you must test the parts connected to locate the trouble. Ready, regular, staccato beat, the patter of a machine gun, often be traced to an impaler in the grid leak. The remnant to try grid leaks of differ-ences until the right one is found.
Ready humming noise usually caused by near-by power lines during circuits near the lead-wire. The remedy is to erect similar as far as possible from lines and as nearly as possible such lines and as nearly aside at right angles to them.
Noose connection or open circuit of the grid circuit often will cause a drumming noise that can be tested by checking up the grist connections.
Cristling or howling noises are due to too much regeneration many turns in the tickler-windling, poorly designed corners too close to each grid and plate wires run too closely parallel to each street.
RUSSIA MOURNING FOR LENINE TODAY
MOSCOW, Jan. 28 — Today was a day of national mourning in Russia for Nicolai Lenine, late head of the Soviet government, whose body was entombed here yesterday.
Services were held by local soilers in towns and cities throughout the republic.
The funeral in Moscow was the most impressive and most spectacular in the existence of this historic city. Half a million mourners attended, standing for hours in weather 30 degrees below zero.
Physicians reported that more than 1000 were overcome by cold and physical emotion.
Pilgrims are arriving from all parts of Russia, passing slowly with bowed heads throughout the day before the tomb.
Throughout the night, an honorary guard of stalwart cavalrymen, their uniforms thick with frost, paced slowly back and forth before the tomb. Powerful searchlights from the Kremlin played over the scene.
Bonfires burned in the streets all over the city. The authorities were hard-pressed to find accommodations for the thousands of pilgrims and some had to sleep in the snow around the bonfires.
Thinks Republic Threatens Throne
MEXICO CITY, Jan. 28 — The recent political upheaval and ascendancy of military control in Spain may prove only a forerunner to far more momentous events, including the loss of his throne by King Alfonso IV and the disintegration of the kingdom into a group of small republics, according to statements made by Marquis Marcelino Barquin, member of an ancient family of the Spanish nobility, in an interview while he was visiting here recently.
"For years the Spanish people have not been united" said the marquis. "Especially is such the case with the military elements of the country. During World War there were two factions—the one on the Allied side, while the other was with the kaiser."
