NOVEL PLAN TO BOOST NEW TRACT
One of the most novel, but attractive methods of advertising a subdivision has just been adopted by the proprietors of Homewood, the new tract being prepared for opening at Buena Park. They announce that they will give away absolutely free five Maytona cabinet phonographs. These instruments have been on sale in Los Angeles at $175 each. They are mahogany, beautifully finished, and have all the equipment of the best producer of their kind. The owners of Homewood state that they impose no conditions for winning one of the five instruments that are to be presented, except that those who want a phonograph shall register their name and address at one of the several offices of the A. B. C. Sales Co., who are sales agents for the tract. When they register they receive a numbered ticket, which again must be signed and brought to the tract on Jan. 27 by the person who owns it. The names of the fortunate winners will be announced on that day.
Three houses are now in course of erection at Homewood, while it is understood that several more will soon go up. Curbs and side-
MISSION GARAGE TO FIVE POINTS
The Mission Garage, formerly located at 243 W. Center, has been moved to Five Points, and is now open for business. Mr. Ralph Cox, the proprietor has installed a modern repair shop and will give the same excellent service he has provided in the past. He is anxious to meet all his former customers and hopes to draw many new ones.

walks are going in immediately, and the big wide boulevard that is to run through the center of the property is being prepared for planting of flaming eucalyptus trees along its border.
The town of Buena Park in which Homewood is situated is contemplating the expenditure of a considerable sum of money to advertise its advantages.
Activity in this section is increasing daily. It is reported that land values are rising rapidly, and the entire locality looks like being the immediate center of a real estate boom. This will be a certainty if the much talked-of reopening of the oil wells around here takes place soon.
MODERN CONCRETE BLOCK FACTORY
The Economy Concrete Co., 847 N. Los Angeles st., is a new Anaheim industry, manufacturing concrete building blocks. It claimed for this hollow tile it is cool in summer and dry in winter, being practically moisture-proof since a 19-pound block surbs only five ounces of water. Both face and colored tile are turned out. The tile runs two square foot, making cost material 20c per square foot. Laid in the wall, the cost per square foot is 30c. In residence it can carry stucco on the outside and plaster inside without studding.
"A similar plant at Inglewood has sold material for 14 buildings since it was located there three months ago.
In making the block the mature is four and one-half square and rock to one of cement, automatically tamped and placed under water for 14 days."

What is Needed
MORE ATHLETIC SPACE
MORE CLASS ROOMS
MORE EQUIPMENT
Additional land, an extensive athletic field and a science building will be the objects in the order named of the $150,000 school bond issue to be voted on Saturday.
Because of the encroachment of buildings onto the athletic field and need for still more building space, it is thought wise to buy more realty adjacent to the high school campus while it still may be acquired at a reasonable figure and before it is improved with buildings. It is planned to purchase ten acres with part of the $150,000 and use the remainder for construction of a 6-room science building and additions to other buildings.
HICKORY SWITCH HALTS ROMANCE OF CHILD SWEETHEARTS IN GEORGIA
Thomas Elbert Bloodworth and his bride, Ludie Watson.
A hickory switch blighted the romance and dissolved the marriage of Thomas Elbert Bloodworth, 15, and Ludie Watson, 17, of Macon, Ga. The groom consented to forsake his bride after the hickory had been stilt unstintedly by his mother. Annulment proceedings were initiated by the families of both of the principals, and a man and a woman, declared to have been the 'matchmakers' of the child marriage, arrested and charged with kidnapping.

MASS MEETING AT
TABERNACLE SUN.
At the tabernacle Sunday afternoon Evangelist Clayton C. Root will give a message to the men of Anaheim. His message will deal with things vital to the individual and to the community. His subject is, "Christ Drawing Men." This message will be a stirring and enthusiastic appeal to the men of this city to stand for the things that pertain to righteousness, sobriety, honor, and all that would go to make Anaheim a better city.
M. B. Simmons will sing a solo entitled, "My Name in Mother's Prayer." An enthusiastic song service will precede the sermon. Mr. Myers is enthusiastic in his prophesy as to the results of this meeting.
Tonight the sermon subject will be: "Bible Repentance."
There will be investigating committees so long as candidates spend more to get an office than the office pays.

VER 2000 MEMBERS
We have no way of knowing definite results of the membership drive that is being conducted, but all indications point our obtaining more than 2000 memberships," stated A. M. Stanley, secretary-manager of the Orchard County farm bureau, today.
"With only a few exceptions, all of the committee members are on the job, and the reports are coming in favorable to a large membership."
"With such matters as freight rates, taxation, tariffs, fire control and mail service coming before us, we are especially destruous of obtaining a large membership to help us work out these problems. That the farmers feel the needs of this work and the organization to do the work is apparent by the returns we are now receiving."
