From the state as a whole 8,010 cars of oranges and 1119 of lemons have been shipped, compared with 6638 and 914, respectively, to the same dates last year. Central Calif. shipped 5593 cars of oranges and 69 of lemons, compared with 4246 and 106 last year. On Jan. 8 only 14 cars of oranges and two cars of lemons were shipped, indicating that that section's supply even of fruit in storage practically is exhausted. Northern Calif. shipments are 614 of oranges and 28 of lemons against 310 and 28, respectively. DALEY'S DIVIDEND Stockholders in Daley's, Inc., owning a chain of grocery stores in So. Calif., two of which are located in Anaheim, are receiving joyous New Year's greetings in the shape of dividends out of the profits during the past year, according to a notice received today from President Joseph A. Daley by B. Wingfield and G. T. Littlefield, local managers of the Daley's stores. Directors recently declared a dividend at the rate of 8 per cent per annum, payable out of surplus on all outstanding preferred stock. In addition, a common stock dividend at the rate of ten per cent was also declared. The Daley's chain has grown from four stores in 1915, to 127 at the close of 1923, stretching from Tustin to Ventura. According to Mr. Daley, plans are under way to establish at least 50 additional stores during 1924. Thirty-two stores were opened last year and the company has enjoyed a steadily increasing business. Recently, twelve stores operated by the California chain stores, were taken under the Daley's wing.
