FEDERAL TROOPS MOVE ON PACHUCA

MEXICO CITY, Jan. 11—Federal troops will be sent out at once to recapture Pachuca, which was seized by the rebels Wednesday. It was officially announced by War Secretary Serrano.
Pachuca, which is sixty-six miles west of this city, is the largest silver mining camp in the world. It was seized by a rebel force under General Cauazos.
Official announcement is made that Serrano will have personal supervision over the movement of the federalists against Vera Cruz on the southeastern front.
Advice to the war department state that the rebels are continuously falling back in that district.
"The revolutionary forces have not yet offered battle to the federal troops advancing upon Vera Cruz," the war department announced.
The federals are led by General Eugenia Martinez.
After reviewing the federal troops on the western front at Irapuato, President Obregon delivered an address, praising his men and predicting success for them upon the field of battle.
El Universal Grafico printed a dispatch from the western front saying that President Obregon ended his speech by shouting:
"Boys, I see we have a real army. Now we will show them what we can do."
The soldiers responded with cheers.
The president is expected to review the troops on the southeastern front at an early date.
GRAIN CLOSES UNCHANGED
CLEACAGO, Jan. 11—Heparts that Canada was swamped with wheat were less of a bear influence than was expected and the grain market closed unchanged to mildly irregular today.
Foreign cables were of mixed influence with Liverpool wheat fairly strong because of poor quality of Russian shipments.
Wheat closed unchanged to $40 higher, corn $16 to $14 lower and cats unchanged to $2 off. Provisions were quiet.
STOCKS CLOSE FIRM
NEW YORK, Jan. 11—The stock market closed firm today with strength in the oils and motor accessories being features.
Marland oil rose 2 points to 88%; Pacific Oil 1% to 59%; Pan-American 1 point to 58%; Houston Oil 1% to 70%; Studebaker 1% to 107% and Stewart Warner 4% to 59%.
Steel Common finished fractionally higher at 99%. The rails were moderately lower. Some of the specialties were strong. Sears Roebuck, American Can and Corn Products gaining more than one point each.
Government bonds unchanged; railway and other bonds firm.
Stock sales 1,155,800 shares; bonds $18,881,000.

BUTLER "BUSTS" POLITICAL PEOPLE

TWO AUTO VICTIMS
PASADENA, Jan. 11. — Two persons died within an hour today at the Pasadena hospital from injuries received in auto accidents.
As the result of the death of Mrs. Charles B. Walker, Dr. William C. Schley; prominent physician may be charged with manslaughter, it was reported.
The dead woman's husband said he would seek a complaint from the district attorney's office.
After Mrs. Walker was hurt several days ago, Dr. Schley was arrested and fined a total of $300 on charges of intoxication and rockless driving.
Troy Larsen died from injuries received when his auto overturned.
AUTOS DAMAGED

PROBE CRASH OF P. E. AND TRAIN
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11.—An investigation was under way here today into the crash late yesterday of a crowded Pacific Electric car into the rear end of a freight train near Torrance in which 50 persons were injured, five of them seriously.
Those seriously injured were: Mrs. Alberta Foss, both legs fractured and bruises.
Mrs. Roy West, possible fracture of the skull and severe cuts, R.E. Salter, badly cut and bruised.
Mrs. Goldie Brown, nose broken, deep cuts about the head and neck and several teeth lost.
Mrs. Bertha Solomon, possible skull fracture.
The others injured, including Motorman Porter, were cut by flying glass and shaken up.
The crash happened on a steep grade, according to Motorman Porter, after he had rounded a curve and the rear end of the freight train loomed up ahead of him. He tried to stop, he said, but it was impossible and the electric car, loaded with eighty passengers, slid into the freight train.
JUDGE ASTOUNDED AT LIQUOR VERDICT
CHICAGO, Jan. 11.—The beer runners who have kept Chicago on edge with pistol fighting and murder were to resume their warfare today since their attention no longer was centered upon court matters.
"Dapper Danhy", McFall, formerly a deputy sheriff, was acquitted of the murder of Jerry O'Connor which touched a match to the war powder magazine. The state charged he shot O'Connor in the back.

LOCATE COAL IN NORTH OF STATE
SACRAMENTO, January 11.—Workable coal deposits exist in Meadocino county, which compare favorably with Wellington colliery outputs in heat-producing qualities and lack of ash, according to the report just submitted by State Mineralogist Lloyd L. Root to Governor Richardson.
These deposits are located on the middle fork of the Eel river, seven miles south of Round Valley. According to the mining head, they are being opened up and tests have proven their exceptional value.
These deposits have been known to exist for many years, but lack of transportation facilities prevented their development, said Root. With the completion of the Northwestern Pacific to Eureka, this drawback is eliminated and active development is being prosecuted.

SHOT IN DRY RAID
HOQUIAH, Wash., Jan. 11.—Shot in a dry raid were last night Mike Dzmaria, proprietor of a pool hall, is in a local hospital suffering from wounds which may prove fatal.

The raid was managed by Constable A. G. Hopkins under direction of Prosecuting Attorney Graham.

PHOENIX, Jan. 11.—The Casa Grande district has been given a lease on life by the announcement of the sale of a bond totaling $354,000 to Jas. Stacy & Co. of San Francisco. The proceeds will be devoted develop a pump irrigation plan racing 15,000 acres.
Power for the project will be obtained from the Salt River Valley Water Users' Ass'n. Members of the district board note that the purchase of pump-power from the local associa-tion will make possible the re-na-tion of 128,000 acres of land in the Casa Grande valley, compared with 29,000 acres claimed by the Florence diversi-dam on the Gila river, readily constructed by the govern-ment.
