Detailed Plan Out For Bank Building City's Finest Structure
The new American Savings Bank building, to be erected at the northeast corner of North Chaddisland and East Center streets, will be started soon after Jan. 15, when the dismantling of the present one story brick buildings is scheduled to begin, according to M. Eugene Durfee, the architect.
Wilson & Bever are the general contractors.
This building will be the most beautiful and modern business block in the city, according to Durfee.
Mr. Kraemer has been doing a great deal for the City of Anaheim in the way of permanent, land foundation of values, claim (By EMILE E. KAHN, Vice President, California Real Estate Association)
The foundation of all securities is the ground we walk on; the ground we live on. The globe we call the earth holds in its bosom and upon its surface the substance of everything that gives authentic security to all the physical wealth. The increasing population of this Western Coast, the Westward flow of people from the East, continually add to the substantial security of this particularly favored part of our country.
Home ownership makes for better citizenship. Better citizenship makes for better governments and better government makes for better security. Security that not only retains its stability, but adds in full measure to it continually. Why do bank examiners insist on savings banks carrying a large part of their loans on land mortgages? Why do large insurance companies follow the same reasoning?
Why do the courts favor the placing of trust or estate funds on securities based on real estate?
Proper judgment and careful investigation, in the selection, in the choice or construction of the home, is insurance for the stability of property. Fewer losses have transpired in the smaller loans, such as home loans, during pannicky periods than in loans made on any other kind of securities. The old adage of not more new houses are planned on BEVER.

"Mr. Kraemer has been doing a great deal for the City of Anaheim in the way of permanent, substantial, beautiful buildings, but this building when completed will be his greatest achievement." Durfee declared.
The structure will extend 48 feet on East Center and 91 feet on North Claudina and be six stories high, not including basement.
The Union Iron Works of Los Angeles has the contract to furnish the steel frame and William H. Wilson of Los Angeles the pressed steel joists for the floor, which will be of steel and concrete.
H. H. Armbrust will provide the mechanical equipment and vacuum heating system and F. H. Garrison the plumbing.
The Otis Elevator Co. will furnish the two elevators to be used, one a high speed car with switch control, to be used during the business hours, the other automatic operated by a push button. The latter will have automatic self closing doors and will be so arranged that when passengers leave, the door will automatically close and the person on any other floor can bring the car to that floor whether the gates have been closed or not, thus eliminating the annoyance of being unable to start the elevator.
The exterior finish of the building will be a Matte glaze turra cotta and enamel brick, very light in color.
The building will be an adaptation of classic design with modified Italian detail. Pilasters grouped about the first story will be Corinthian, the capitals of which are duplicates of those of the Temple of Veeta at Tivoli, Italy.
The first story, and basement will be used to house the American Savings Bank, and on account of this fact the building is being worked out on a design that is more or less of a monumental nature, which would have been impossible had the first story been given over to mercantile purposes.
"This building," said Durfee, "will be by far the most beautiful in Anaheim, with a design such as compares with any of the better buildings in Los Angeles."

Smith Brothers Make Famous Stomach Remedy
Years ago when the Smith Brothers placed their M. A. C. Stomach Tonite on the market, drug stores throughout the country were literally swamped with preparations alleged by their backers to have great virtue in the treatment of stomach complaints. Today most of those medicines are gone and forgotten, while Smith Bros.' M. A. C. has a bigger sale than ever.
It is the old story of honest merit achieving success in spite of every obstacle. Stomach sufferers who used M. A. C. found lasting relief and told others about it. That's why the demand for this remedy has continued to grow year after year.
M. A. C. is remarkably effective in all forms of stomach distress, such as indigestion, dyspepsia, heartburn, sour stomach, hausse and excessive gas. Absolutely harmless — pleasant to take. But up in one size only. Price $1.25. Sold by Heying Pharmacy.

FARMING IMPORTS EXCEED EXPORTS
By ROBERT S. THORNBURG (T. N. S. Staff Correspondent)
WASHINGTON, Dec. 26. For the first time in the country's history, the United States is importing more agricultural products than are being exported, the department of agriculture announced today.
America's favorable agricultural trade balance has been completely wiped out, while the nation's total exports exceeded imports during the year 1923 by less than a quarter of a billion dollars.
This condition has come about despite the fact that the United States is the greatest agricultural country in the world.
Figures compiled by the department of agriculture show that imports of farm products

IMPROVEMENTS AT PARK HAVE BEGUN
It is announced that M. J. Gallagher has been appointed superintendent of sales for Orange-co of the Central Memorial Park, the new cemetery that will shortly be opened at Huntington Beach Boulevard and Anaheim Road. Mr. Gallagher will have office in the Ramona Building, Santa Ana.
"Men and women who are selling sections in Central Memorial Park," says John H. McKenzie, general manager and promoter, "should associate their work with the Christmas spirit. They have every reason to do so. Is there any better gift for our community than Central Memorial Park? And is there a better gift for a relative or friend than a first payment on a section in the Park? This is not more selling talk. Most of us aim to give what is useful and acceptable. The greatest need of Orange-co is a Memorial Park. What more suitable than my suggestion, if one has the community spirit development to the right degree?"
Central Memorial Park officials are perfecting their permanent organization daily... W. A. Morrison, park superintendent, has commenced his duties. Mr. Morrison was superintendent of Hollywood Cemetery for many years, and while he has as yet no complete park to work on, there are a hundred and one details that require his attention even at this stage.

NEW SYSTEM IN EFFECT JAN. 2ND
Multiple listing grew out of a need, and is based upon the full cooperation of its members, says H. E. Nightingale, telling of the experience of the Southwest Realty Board of Los Angeles, which was actually organized around this system.
The system provides that all listings obtained by one member of the board shall be open to all members. The member who obtained the listing will receive one third of the commission and the one who sold the property two thirds. It will be put into effect after Jan. 1 by the Anaheim Board.
"The Multiple Listing is the outgrowth of a condition, the necessity to put the profession on the high plane it so justly deserves."
This condition largely obtained through the State and I believe the nation. This brought about the demand for a closer unity among brokers who stood for a higher standard for the profession. This required an organization. We find that Realty Boards have multiplied very rapidly.

The Multiple Listing is the outgrowth of a condition, the necessity to put the profession on the high plane it so justly deserves.
This condition largely obtained through the State and I believe, the nation. This brought about the demand for a closer unity among brokers who stood for a higher standard for the profession. This required an organization. We find that Realty Boards have multiplied very rapidly. Realty Boards, like any other organization, in order to live and prosper, must be based upon something that makes its success a personal matter to each of its members. This point of mutual interest many saw in the Multiple Exclusive Listing.
The Southwest Realty Board was organized around this system. As the name implies, it is multiple; that is, a listing taken by any one member is within 36 hours sent into the Central Board Office; where duplicate cards are made and one sent to each member of the board at the earliest possible moment. They are exclusive, in that they are taken for no less than 40 days and as exclusive as it is possible to make them. If this listing is sold during the time specified on the listing card, whether by the owner or member, the board office is at once notified and it in turn notifies as soon as possible the entire board membership in order that none will work on a sold listing.

Exchange, City Manager Building Inspector Agree on That
The uniform building code for Orange County cities proposed by the Orange County Branch of the Los Angeles Builders Exchange meets a real need, according to J. W. Price, Anaheim Building Inspector, and O. E. Steward, City Manager, but the main feature of the new code on which all three parties appear to be agreed is that incorporated cities of the County could have the same code.
A uniform city code is what the exchange favors, but Price declared a county code with provisions for unincorporated territory would be the thing, while Steward favors a County code applying only to such territory.

Mr. Dike is interested in other local projects besides Midway City. He has made a thorough investigation of the possibilities of this section of the country and has ideas and plans that will make for its development. Among other things he is reported to be considering a project in connection with Newport and its harbor. Midway City would be linked up with this in an industrial way.
As advertised six automobiles are being given away in connection with Midway City lots, and this alone has caused considerable interest.
