Mrs. Dorrit Stevens Woodhouse of Burlington, Vt., and New York has asked for a new trial of her suit to collect $1,000,000 for alleged alienation of her husband's affections by her prents-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo E. Stevens. The jury in the first trial awarded her $145,000. The judge cut it down to $125,000.

Dr. S. Josephine Baker, who is credited with being largely responsible for the methods which reduced New York City's infant mortality rate from 144 per thousand births to 75 during her twenty years of welfare work there, has just been appointed consulting director in maternity and child hygiene of the United States children's bureau. Dr. Baker was the first woman to be identified with the league of nations in a professional capacity.

The last of the Romanoffs have no right to be considered an imperial family, or to assume that Grand Duke Michael is dead; but should the question arise of eventual succession to a Russian throne the Romanoffs are determined to recognize the eldest member of the family, Cyril, as heir to the crown. This was decided into a council of the family held in Paris.

ROUND THE WORLD PLANE AND ROUTE IT WILL TAKE
One of the five planes of similar design chosen for the round-the-world flight to be undertaken by the Army Air Service next March. The map shows the official route chosen.
Only the formal approval of some of the foreign governments whose territory will be traversed remains to be gained to complete the details of the round-the-world flight which will be begun by the U.S. Army Air Service next March.
Five biplanes, now virtually completed in the shops of the Douglas Aircraft Co., at Santa Monica, Calif., will be used. They have 50-foot wing spread and are powered with Liberty 12-cylinder motors of 400 horsepower.
The purpose of the flight is to demonstrate that airplanes have reached the stage of development where they can be operated safely and efficiently far away from their base.

FIVE MEXICAN STATES REVOLT AGAINST OBREGON
The social whirl is upon us calling for smart clothes for all occasions. Black velvet frocks, as illustrated on the left, are as popular as ever. This one has collar, cuffs and side ruffle of ecrus lace on a net foundation.
Milady must have time for rest, however, and these nobby negligees (right and center) are the very smartest things for the leisure hours. The one on the right is a velvet brocade in deep yellow. To add to the luxuriousness of it bands of beaver are used as trimming and it is caught and fastened with a beaded cabochon.
In the center is another equally smart robe developed in a heavy crepe meteor in an orchid tone. It is banded with self-colored maribou negligees make lovely Xmas gifts.

revolt, the military leaders demand the end of the "misrule."
The five states are Vera Cruz,
San Luis Potosí, Chihuahua,
