SANTA VISITS FACULTY AT. CLAYES HOME FACULTY members of the high school and their "better halves" were guests last evening of Mr. and Mr. J. A. Clayes at their home on No. Lemon-st. This is the last social affair, however, in the connoissolous place as they will move soon to their new ranch home. Miss Lova Helt was chairman of the frolics and was assisted by Mrs. Hugo Schulz, Mrs. Lawrence Southerland, Bella J. Walker, Cora Parker and Mable Thayer. Everyone had brought a gift and deposited in the path that Santa Claus soon trod over. J. L. Van der Veer acted as the jolly old saint, and delivered the gifts to the correct persons. The affair was a very jolly one and before Santa's visit games of all sorts were enjoyed. An attractive magazine stand was given to Mr. and Mrs. Clayes. Singing was also a delightful feature of the party. The house was prettily decorated in the Christmas colors and a cheery atmosphere prevailed. The luncheon served late in the evening was most delicious. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Schulz, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence E. Sutherland, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Reinhart, Mr. and Mrs. William Drennon, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Burden, Mr. and Mrs. J. Williams, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Fitzmorris, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Van de Veer, Mr. and Mrs. D P. Lehmer, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Steelehead, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Swan, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Swan. White Temple Xmas There is no other institution in the community to whom the Christmas season means so much as to the churches for they then celebrate the birth of their Savior and Lord. The White Temple is making elaborate preparations for this celebration this year. On the 21st Friday night, at 8:15 o'clock, the large chorus choir under the direction of Dr. H. H. Young, assisted by many well known soloists, will give Handel's "Messiah". This will be given at the later hour so as not to conflict with the Community Tree service. On Sunday morning Dr. James Allen Geissinger, the pastor, will preach the Christmas sermon. His subject will be "This, the Gladest Christmas Mankind Has Ever Celebrated." A Christmas Praise Service will be given the Chorus choir Sunday night and the pastor will then give a very short Christmas address. Monday evening the Christmas entertainment of the Sunday school will be given. The little folk will have the program and each child will give presents as well as receive a treat from the Sunday school. Poor families and several homes will be remembered. Missionary Day Mrs. A. L. Shelton, wife of the martyred missionary, whose tragic death occurred February 2, 1922, in Batang, Tibet, will be in the Christian tabernacle next Sunday, to make what is practically her first public appearance since the death of her widely-mourned husband. Study Intricate Story The Literary section, meeting yesterday with Mrs. Thomas Lunsdon, held another of the excellent, enjoyable study hours in which a review of the book "Growth of the Soil," by Knuth Hansun, a Norwegian, was presented in four parts by the Madames R. H. Grove, C.E. Churchierain, C.W.Austin and G.B.Simpson. Review of such a book "Growth of the Soil" is selvedge attempted by a club in the ordinary sized town, it being considered a work for professional persons, but the comprehensive manner in which the theme was presented, and the delicate use of the frank language, gave unlimited pleasure and understanding to every listener. Mrs. Frederick R Schiller leader of the section, reviewed the life of the writer in her usual efficient way. At the close of the meeting she gave a list of chosen books for children, those particularly suitable for presentation during the coming joyous season. The section is very happy to have knowledge that, in a recommendation of the ten best books of the past two decades, as indicated in a summary found in the last issue of Review of Review, the Anaheim section had already studied eight of them, through the recommendation and planning its leader, Mrs. Schiller. Grace Aid Meeting The usual study hour was decided to the topic,"Experiences DENTISTS OFFER AID FOR CLINIC Dr. Floyd E. Hogeboom, of Los Angeles, was in Anaheim Wednesday evening to meet the dentists school faculties, and Parent-Teacher association for a discussion of the proposed dental clinic. All dentists of the city were present and volunteered to do everything they could to make the movement a success. Dr. Hogeboom is well informed on the needs of such an establishment, as he was in the Pasadena city dental dispensary for three years and has appeared on programs in some of the largest dental conventions. It is his opinion that a clinic could and should be established in Anaheim and with $1000 of the needed $1500 for equipment, already on hands, the proposition looks quite possible. Further meetings will be held to discuss the matter when it is hoped a fuller representation of interested persons will be shown. City Manager Steward, Mrs. J. W. Price and Miss Dry, school nurse, were the only others at the meeting besides the dentist of the city.
