DAWES, HOOVER MAY BE NAMED
By HARRY FLORY
(L. N. S. Staff Correspondent)
PARIS, Dec. 13.—The inter- allied reparations commission met today when the personnel of members of the committee which will study Germany's capacity for reparations payment, was discussed.
It was learned that the commission had practically decided to suggest the name of Charles G. Dawes, former director of the budget in the U. S. government, as one of the American members.
There are to be three Americans on the various committees, but so far as known only Dawes' name was discussed today. Herbert Hoover is prominently mentioned in all the members of the committees will have an equal voice.
It is regarded certain now that Germany will not have membership in any of the committees.
France also insists that neutral barred,
Herman witnesses will be called before the committees from time in time to give testimony and to produce documents. The inquiry is expected to last about two months.
It is likely the French representatives will be M. Parmentiere, famous economic expert; M. Attalan, director of the Bank of Paris and Holland; and M. Nezoudoski, administrator of Comptoiel Des Compte.
The press unanimously welcomed the mention of General Dawes' name as one of the Amer-

CAR STOLEN HERE FOUND IN FLORIDA
Local police have received word that a new Chevrolet car stole last August from in front of the Darney Hartfield Jewelry Store on W. Center-st., has been found in Miami, Fla. The theft was one of the most unusual in Anaheim. The two occupants of the car parked the machine went into a drug store for a soft drink and returned within 15 minutes to find their machine gone. It is not known whether the machine is now worth re-claiming.
W. B. Moody, chief of police said, "Those fellows were crazy or they'd never have gone to Florida. They'd have stayed right here in So. Calif."
Moody has a poor opinion of Florida as a place to live.
DANVILLE WOMAN THRICE GRANDMA
DANVILLE, Pa., Dec. 13.—One Clara Kinn, a local resident, recently became a grandmother three times in as many days. She is claiming a record for the state because she has but three children.
The first of the trio of grandchildren was born to Mrs. Myrtle Fallon, her daughter; the second to Mrs. Joseph Kinn, her daughter-in-law, and the third to Mrs. Peter Shagren, a daughter.
The Secret of Tasty Cooking
It is likely the French representatives will be M. Parmentiere, famous economic expert; M. Attalan, director of the Bank of Paris and Holland; and M. Nezondoski, administrator of Coraptoiel Des Compte.
The press unanimously welcomed the mention of General Dawes' name as one of the Americans. He became well known to French officials during the latter years of the war when he was chairman of the general purchasing board of the American army in France.
WASHINGTON, Dec. 13.—The correspondence that passed between France, Germany and the United States, leading up to American consent to take part in the forthcoming international inquiry into Germany's economic condition was made public by the state department today.
It added but little to what already has been announced about the undertaking.

RY. PERMIT DENIED
WASHINGTON, Dec. 13.—The Interstate Commerce Commission today denied the application of the Colorado, Columbus and Mexican Railroad Co. for authority to construct 550 miles of railroad in New Mexico, Texas and Arizona on the ground that the project "has not been well studied, construction cost of $21,000,000 had been much underestimated and would not have enough traffic to justify its construction.

The president and fourth of the company is A. E. Nicholls W. Hall is manager of Oranoco and E. W. Jardine field representative.
This concern has had a tremendous growth since Nicholls 6 years ago ran a little feed at grain store in Los Angeles. In 1922 the company did a business of more than $2,500,000 in flour cereals, hay, grain and stock feed.
Now the company has been granted a charter, authorizing to change its name to the Nicholls Grain & Milling Co., with capital of $2,900,000. With a gross sales business of $2,500,000 per year this capital is regarded as modest.
“There is an Orange Brand Need for Every Need” says the slogan of the company, and a tremendous further business growth is anticipated.

FLORAL PRIZES FOR GOOD GUESSERS
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa., Dec. 13.—When Hiram Plasterer became a candidate for director of the poor in Franklin county he announced he would award six floral prizes to the persons who came nearest to guessing the total number of votes he would receive in the election. Plasterer is a florist and in addition to the prizes also issued little booklets giving advice on how to grow flowers.
His campaign methods attracted considerable attention and he was elected. He has awarded all the promised prizes, ranging from two dozen chrysanthemums to 12 flowers of other varieties.

8 SHIPWRECKED VICTIMS RESCUED
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 12—Forced to live on goat meat and fish for five days was the story told today by eight shipwrecked victims rescued from San Clemente island where their 30-foot craft was beached and destroyed during the recent gale.
The party, among whom were six naval men, was discovered by the naval tug Kingfisher and the men, who were in a state bordering on exhaustion from exposure, were given first aid and returned to Los Angeles harbor.
According to the story told by the survivors, the party had started for the island, 60 miles from the harbor, during the first day of the wind storm. The boat crashed on a jagged rock along the shore and the men were forced to swim for their lives.
In the party were R. E. Bacon, C. L. Watson, F. E. Keegan, B. W. Russell, C. E. Schneider and F. A. Oberg from the U.S. S. Procyen and L. M. King and his 14 year old son Charles.
